Deal Close: 'Excellent' £115k-a-week star wanted by Liverpool agrees massive €45m transfer. Klopp admires him

With the January transfer window just around the corner, it looks like Jurgen Klopp is set to miss out on one Liverpool's reported transfer targets.

According to the Liverpool Echo this week, Liverpool are still tracking Draxler, a player who is 'admired' by Klopp, but new reports today claim that:

* PSG have 'reached an agreement with Wolfsburg' to sign Draxler during in January.

* The French club have agreed a €45m transfer fee for the midfielder.

Draxler has been publicly pushing for a transfer since August, when told reporters:

"I want to leave Wolfsburg [and] go to a top international club".

Soon after, Draxler's agent declared:

“He [Draxler] will definitely leave Wolfsburg. PSG offered €65m. I repeat: he will leave.”

Wolfsburg fans were incensed by these comments, and resorted to booing Draxler every time he played for the club. As such, a transfer was clearly inevitable.

To be honest, I'm personally not bothered about Liverpool losing out here. The idea of Draxler is appealing (tall, powerful German international), but his overall creative return is simply not good enough. Granted, he's only 22, but a goal every 370 minutes in the Bundesliga is average, and is not an upgrade on Liverpool's current attackers. As Michael Ballack noted recently:

"Julian Draxler is an excellent player, but he also needs three or four meters of space to do his dribbling".

English football is probably too intense for Draxler, which is probably why he's choosing to go to Ligue One, which is significantly less physical and fast than the Premier League. Bullet dodged, or big loss?

* Reportedly on £115k-a-week at Wolfsburg
