It's crunch time! Liverpool face Manchester City at Anfield today, and victory will solidify the Reds' hold on second place in the league.
Ahead of the game, there is a wealth of confirmed team news already:
* Klopp on Coutinho: "The City game for sure is too early, and I'm pretty sure the Sunderland game is too early too".
* LFC statement on Matip: "Liverpool are without the services of Joel Matip again as he continues to recover from an ankle issue".
* Guardiola on Aguero: “He is ready. He came back good from Argentina. Finally, he came back after four games ban and we are happy he is back”.
* Guardiola on injuries: "Vincent [Kompany] and Leroy [Sane] will not be available to play. John [Stones] is much, much better".
Prior to his recent injury, Man City won just two out of twelve games with Stones in the team (conceding a ridiculous 20 goals in the process), so fingers crossed he's in the starting lineup :-)
The absence of Kompany and Sane is a massive boost for Liverpool, but that's tempered by the return of £55m-rated Aguero, which is (potentially) a major blow. After his 4-game ban, the Argentine striker is obviously well-rested, and he'll be chomping at the bit to get back on the scoresheet.
Predicting a 1-1 draw for the game, Reds legend Mark Lawrenson singled out Yaya Toure as a ' big player who will play a big part for City at Anfield', and suggested that Liverpool may struggle to win the game:
"I always feel with Manchester City going into games like this that their big players will produce. I am going for a draw. We know how good Liverpool are going forward, but I think City will pose a threat too".
Should Klopp name an unchanged team for the fourth game in a row, or is Daniel Sturridge sue a first-team return?
* Oct 2016: Aguero hailed as 'world-class' by Alan Shearer.
