Anfield Warning: 'Brilliant' €23m international admits he's desperate to replace Liverpool star as Klopp's top man

Liverpool outcast Simon Mignolet has made it clear once again that he's unhappy with Jurgen Klopp's decision to bench him.

Last month, Mignolet revealed his frustration at being Liverpool's 'number two', and warned that he will not 'sit on the bench' in the long term.

Speaking to Limburg TV today, Mignolet mused:

“I’ve never been on the bench in my career. I don’t want that and I won’t accept it either. I will keep fighting to return as first-choice."

Mignolet's concerns are understandable, but unless Karius suffers major injury, or a catastrophic loss of form, the Belgian is destined to spend the rest of his Liverpool career on the bench (bar domestic cup games).

There's only one solution, and Mignolet probably knows it: he'll have to leave, especially if he has any chance of retaining his place in the Belgium national team.

On the subject of leaving, though, Mignolet appeared to dismiss the possibility of a January exit:

“It’s not right [to suggest leaving Liverpool in January]. That’s for the future".]

Mignolet's apparent dedication to winning his place back is admirable, but he's wasting his time. Karius is Klopp's guy, and the Belgian is better off cutting his losses and signing for a team where's he'll be number one.
