Liverpool are reportedly tracking a potential replacement for out-of-favour left-back Alberto Moreno.
According to The Mirror:
"Liverpool have expressed an interest in Southampton full back Sam McQueen [who] has filed to agree a new contract with the south coast club".
The Express further claims:
"Jurgen Klopp is lining up a £40m double swoop for Virgil Van Dijk, and 21-year-old left-back Sam McQueen".
Some info about McQueen:
* Left-back, who can also play left-midfield. Contract expires: 2018.
* Southampton: 8 senior apps (1 assist). 3 games in the Premier League.
* Oct 2016: Jose Fonte's assessment: "He [McQueen] has surprised me. He’s done really, really well and fully deserves to be in the team now".
* Nov 2016: Oriol Romeu raved: “He’s been amazing for us. He has handled the pressure extremely well, because it’s not easy when you are starting to play in the first-team and he has done very good".
McQueen will no doubt be this season's Ben Chilwell: a young left-back endlessly linked with Liverpool who ends up staying at his club.
In my view, Liverpool should sign a left-back with more experience, and of the two, I'd rather see Van Dijk at Anfield.
