Transfer Warning: Legend claims 'amazing' €53m star will quit Anfield this summer if Liverpool 'fail to win a trophy'

Spurs legend Garth Crooks has warned Liverpool to start winning trophies or face losing the club's top player.

After the Reds' 6-1 demolition job on Watford, 'amazing' Coutinho made it into Crooks' team of the week, and explaining his inclusion, Crooks observed:

“Liverpool are riding high largely because of Coutinho's contribution, but should the Reds fail to win a trophy, he may end up at a club that can."

In my view, winning trophies won't make a difference to Coutinho's transfer trajectory. Even if Liverpool win the league, Barcelona will still be a more attractive destination for the Brazilian, and like Luis Suarez, he will jump ship.

If the Reds had won the league in 2013-14, Suarez still would've quit Liverpool, and he confirmed this in April 2015:

"Barcelona are always a candidate to win the Champions League. The clubs I’ve played for didn’t really have the chance to win big trophies - maybe a domestic league or cup".

Coutinho also has a hankering to win big trophies, and in September, he insisted:

“What I really want is to lift trophies. That’s the most important thing. You want to look back at the end of your career and think about what you have won. We have been so close but we don’t want this any more".

Even with Klopp at the helm, Coutinho will have more chance of consistently winning big trophies at Barcelona, and that may ultimately prove to be the deciding factor.
