Bad news for Liverpool? One of Jurgen Klopp's top transfer targets is a fan of the Reds' biggest rivals.
Liverpool made a deadline-day offer for Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, and in late-September, the Liverpool Echo claimed:
"Liverpool are planning to follow up their interest in Christian Pulisic in future transfer windows".
Jurgen Klopp reportedly remain interested in a deal, the Reds may struggle to attract the €20m-rated attacker to Anfield. According to the Daily Mail today:
"Pulisic spent in England when he was seven and became a Manchester United fan".
Pulisic has also confirmed his admiration for United:
""I was a big Manchester United fan [and] I loved to watch Wayne Rooney. His passion for the game is something you don't see much. That's what I loved about him"
If the opportunity presents itself, will 'unbelievable' Pulisic turn down the opportunity to play alongside Rooney, a player for whom he clearly has great admiration?
Whatever happens, signing Pulisic between the ages of 17-19 is a mistake, as history shows that no foreign attacking player in that age group has *ever* come through the ranks to become a first-team regular at Anfield. In my view, the best strategy is to following the Coutinho route, and buy Pulisic when has a solid 3-4 years of top level experience/development behind him.
* Youngest-ever player to appear in a World Cup qualifier for the US national team.
