Molby: Klopp will dump £57m Liverpool-duo 'on the bench' today; 'exciting' star will start

After two goals against Spurs on Tuesday, will Daniel Sturridge start today?

Liverpool legend Jan Molby doesn't think so, and in his column for the Liverpool Echo this week, he explained:

"Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge^ should be on the bench, but Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have done nothing to play their way out of the team".

Unfortunately for Sturridge, this will probably turn out to be true. Coutinho, Firmino, and Mane all either scored or created goals in last week's 2-1 victory over West Brom, and there's no way Klopp will swap out that trio for a player he obviously doesn't rate (as highly).

In any event, it's probably a good idea if Sturridge sits this one out. As I've illustrated in the past, playing him in more than one game a week is - in fitness terms - a recipe for disaster, and he has already played once this week.

Personally, I'd rather see Surridge start every league game and sit out cup games, but that isn't going to happen under Klopp. Molby also predicted:

"Gini Wijnaldum managed the full ninety minutes (against Spurs], so he should keep his place".

This is probably a no-brainer for Klopp. He's clearly made the decision that Wijnaldum will be a central midfielder for Liverpool, which is bad news for Emre Can, who'll probably be back on the bench today.

Probable lineup:

------------- Karius
Clyne --- Lovren - Matip ---- Moreno
- Wijnaldum -- Hendo -- Lallana
---- Mane -- Firmino -- Coutinho

^ Sturridge: £30m-rated. Origi: £27m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Wijnaldum: Hailed by Klopp for his 'exciting' potential
