Anfield Boost: Boss confirms 'absolutely spectacular' £20m powerhouse is close to playing for Liverpool again

Is Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho quietly working his way back into first team contention?

U23s boss Michael Beale seems to think so. Sakho played for the U23s against Manchester United this week, and after the game, Beale enthused:

“Mama is training with us and he’s working hard every day. That’s the closest he’s looked to full fitness. A couple more games like that and we’ll see what happens from there.”

Last season, Jurgen Klopp hailed Sakho as an 'absolutely spectacular' player, but now, the French defender is playing his trade for the club's U23 team. How the mighty have fallen.

After his recent Snapchat faux pas, Sakho has clearly been sentenced to a stretch in U23s, but Beale appears to be suggesting that he could be paroled back to the first team if he maintains his application.

Massive injury crisis aside, though, I can't see a way back for £20m-rated Sakho, especially with Matip, Lovren, and Klavan in the squad.

Plus, Liverpool are constantly linked with new central defenders, and if these rumours are true, then it looks like Klopp is actively searching for Sakho's replacement.
