Anfield Boost: Klopp confirms 'fantastic' €46m Liverpool-duo are fit to face Man Utd

In recent weeks, Liverpool's injury curse has returned with a vengeance, but ahead of Monday's clash with Man United, two of the club's key players appear to be winning the fight for fitness.

During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Jurgen Klopp revealed some potentially good news:

"Dejan [Lovren] and Nathaniel [Clyne] trained Tuesday and Wednesday so they are in the race".

Before Monday's game kicks off, Clyne and Lovren will have undergone several more training sessions, so the likelihood is that both will be fit for the game, which is a massive boost.

Another positive is that Klopp's preferred back-line (Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, and Milner) all missed out on international duty, so in theory, they will be well-rested and in great condition for the game.

It's rare for Klopp to have the entire first-choice back four together during an international break, so with any luck, Klopp has working with them on defending set-pieces and aerial balls into the box.

Mourinho is no mug, and he will surely try and exploit that aspect of Liverpool's defensive frailty, so it'll be interesting to see how the Reds respond.

* Lovren: Hailed as 'fantastic' by Mark Wright. Clyne: Described as 'fantastic' by Aldo. Combined €46m value (CIES)
