Replace Sturridge? Liverpool Reps fly out to watch 'fantastic' €25m striker with 64 goals/assists in the last 3 years

Liverpool continue to be linked with new strikers, and new reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp is once again looking at a player in Serie A.

Last month, the Reds were linked with Torino striker Andrea Belotti, and according to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato this week.

"After looking at Gregoire Defrel, Liverpool and Arsenal have now sent scouts to watch Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti in action".

Some info about Pavoletti:

* 27-year old center-forward. Current contract expires: 2019.

* Genoa: 24 goals/6 assists in 41 apps (One every 98 mins)

* Last 3 Seasons: 47 goals/14 assists (61) in 80 apps (One every 103 mins)

* This Season: 3 goals/assists in 5 apps (One every 130 mins).

* Missed only 12 games through injury for his entire career (Currently out with a hamstring issue).

* May 2016: Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperin raved: "Pavoletti had a fantastic season, and when he was good he was crazy good. I'm biased, but I think he's ready for the national team".

* Aug 2016: Genoa President Enrico Preziosi told reporters: "[Napoli Owner] Aurelio De Laurentiis offered €15m for Pavoletti, but I will not even sell for €25m".

Pavoletti sounds just like Klopp's type of player: comparatively unknown; untapped ability at the highest level; potential to develop into a top player; potentially cheap etc.

Preziosi maye rate Pavoletti at €25m+, but it's highly doubtful he'll get such a lofty fee for a 27-year old who's never played for his national team.

Pavoletti has excellent stats - worth a bid in January?
