After a series of error-strewn performances, Liverpool misfit Alberto Moreno is banished to the bench at Anfield, and according to Reds legend Jamie Carragher, the end is nigh for the Spanish left-back.
Speaking to TalkSport this weekend, Carra explained:
“If you’re a left-back and a right midfielder is ahead of you it probably tells you time is up at the club. I am sure Klopp and his team are scouting for a left-back because you can see he has no time for Moreno.”
Carra predicts that Liverpool will sign a replacement for Moreno during the January transfer window, but I'm not so sure. Klopp had all summer to sign a left-back but chose instead to go into the season with Moreno and Milner as his main options.
I doubt anything will change in January, especially if Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League. Additionally, I have a feeling that Klopp will give Moreno one more chance to redeem himself, and who knows, perhaps he'll be able to coach the mistakes out Moreno?
Wishful thinking, perhaps, but if Moreno can cut out the 'rash', reckless tackles, and improve his positioning, he may still have a future at Anfield.
* Reportedly on £40k-a-week.
