Liverpool Update: 'Wonderful' international attacker who idolises 'Messi/Ronaldo' sends message to Klopp

Over the summer, Liverpool sold or loaned out 16 players as part of a big Academy clearout, but promising Reds attacker Harry Wilson manager to avoid the cull, and remains intent on breaking into Jurgen Klopp's first-team squad.

On Sunday, Klopp watched the U23s beat Leicester 4-0, and after the game, Wilson enthused:

“It’s great to see the manager watching us. It gives us a chance to show him what we can do, and if we play well, we can hopefully get into his plans".

Wilson - Described by Wales U21s boss Geraint Williams as 'wonderful' - grabbed a goal and assist during the game, so I'm sure Klopp took note of that. Some info about Wilson:

* LFC website description: "All the hallmarks of typical left winger - bags of pace, a great touch, ability and acceleration".

* Oct 2013: Broke the record for youngest player in Wales’ history.

* Jul 2015: Included in Brendan Rodgers' squad for the summer’s pre-season jolly around the Eastern Hemisphere, but didn't play once.

* On his start in the game: confirmed 2-years ago: "My career started at Manchester United. It didn't work out there, but Liverpool said they wanted to have a look at me".

* On his footballing influences: "Ryan Giggs was an obvious hero. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. I'm attack-minded and love getting forward".

Liverpool are short of wide players at the moment, and if Wilson continues to progress well, perhaps there's a chance he'll follow Sheyi Ojo into the first-team setup this season.
