Contact Made: Liverpool tried to sign 'exceptional' €15m sensation who's like 'Kompany'. Klopp made enquiry

Liverpool were linked with countless central defenders over the summer, including PSG youngster Presnel Kimpembe, and it now transpires that Jurgen Klopp actively tried to seal a deal for the talented 21-year old.

According to Mundo Deportivo:

"Over the summer, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp enquired about signing Presnel Kimpembe".

When asked a few months ago about his future, Kempembe made it clear that he's open to leaving PGS:

"At my age, you have to play. I know what I'm capable of. I've experienced the level in Ligue 1 and I know I can play."

Some info about €15m-rated Kimpembe:

* Left-footed central defender, who can also plays as a left-back. Current contract expires: 2018

* PSG: 17 senior appearances. Started six of PSG's last seven games.

* Sep 2016: PSG left-back Thomas Meunier raved: "He [Kempembe] is exceptional. I love his style of play. I can easily compare it with Kompany. Presnel has this elegance. He is modern and builds from the back"

* Sep 2016: On playing alongside Thiago Silva:"It has helped me to grow, and enabled me to make an impression and be where I am today. This summer, I felt as if I had gone up a level and I hope this is not the last time."
