Liverpool's Academy is bursting with talented young players, and with Ovie Ejaria, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Cameron Brannagan breaking through, 19-year old American Brooks Lennon is determined to be the next in line for first-team action.
Speaking to ESPN this week, Lennon hailed Ejaria's ascent to the first-team squad, and vowed to 'keep the story going' and follow in Ejaria's footsteps.
Lennon also has some lofty ambitions, and when asked about his football idols, he enthused:
"My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo. He's not just talented, he goes and works every day before and after practice. I just like to emulate him and I want to become him one day".
Well, it's good to have goals, and if you're going to dream, then you might as well dream big. Some info about Lennon:
* Description on the official LFC website: "Lennon can play anywhere across the front line. Netted 31 goals for Real Salt Lake's Academy during the 2014-15 campaign".
* 08 Dec 2015: U18s boss Neil Critchley's assessment: "He [Lennon] has been working extremely hard. Brooks has good talent and he’s a got a good character as well, a good personality and we are looking forward to working with him in the future."
* On the differences between US and English football: "Speed of play. It's much faster in England. The physicality is much better, and I feel like I've developed as a player, especially on the physicality side.
* On his style of play: "My attributes are breaking the lines and running in behind the defence and scoring goals. I'm good in front of goal and I just need to keep working on parts of my game that need to be fixed".
