Anfield Update: After Liverpool contact, Boss confirms 'offer' for 'immense' €60m Klopp target

In July, the Agent of PSG star Lucas Digne 'confirmed' that Liverpool were 'tracking' the 21-year old full-back, who ultimately ended up at Barcelona. French newspaper L'Equipe further claimed that Liverpool made an official 'enquiry' for Digne, and but did the Reds ever submit an official offer?

When asked over the weekend about Digne's transfer^, Barca director Robert Fernandez told Spanish newspaper Sport:

"PSG already had an offer from a good English team, but when we got in touch, the manager told us that the player only wanted to come to Barcelona".

Given Liverpool's long-term interest in Digne (who has a €60m buyout clause in his Barca contract), there's a strong probability that the offer came from Liverpool, especially given the club's desperate need for a new left-back.

That said, once Barcelona entered the picture, there was only going to be one winner in this particular transfer battle. After all, with the greatest respect, who in their right mind is going to reject Barcelona for a Liverpool team that consistently struggles to qualify for the Champions League?

Digne is arguably a considerable upgrade on Alberto Moreno, but once again, Liverpool missed out.
