Anfield Megadeal: Liverpool want exciting €45m Brazil sensation with 'amazing' talent. Offer made already

Despite Liverpool's ongoing defensive woes, and desperate need for a defensive-midfielder, the club continues to be linked with strikers and attacking midfielders, with Gremio star Luan Vieira the latest name to enter the fray.

Last week, reports in Spain claimed Liverpool submitted an official offer for Luan, and according to Brazilian newspaper Zero Hora this week:

"Barcelona , Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus want Luan, and Gremio have made it clear clear that he will cost €45m in the current transfer window".

Some info about Luan:

* 23-year old striker, who can also play as false-9, or a right/left-winger. Current contract expires: 2018

* Gremio: 20 goals/15 assists (35) in 90 games (One every 193 minutes)

* May 2016: Named in Brazil's provisional Copa América squad, but missed out on the final squad.

* Aug 2016: 5 goals/assists for Brazil at the Rio Olympics.

* Feb 2015: Gremio's General Coordinator, Junior Chávare, raved: "Luan's potential is amazing, and he's only at about 55% of his ability so far".

* May 2014: Ex-Gremio manager Enderson Moreira's assessment: "Luan is a false-9. He spends half his time attacking/scoring, and half the time creating an attacker is creating. Few clubs in the world have a player like that".

Do Liverpool need another attacker. Absolutely, IMO. Sturridge's pace is gone; Origi and Ings aren't going to cut it; Benteke is gone, so there's a space to fill; Markovic is a busted flush; Lallana is unreliable; Coutinho and Firmino are inconsistent, and Mane will be gone in January for the African Cup of Nations.

€45m sounds like wishful thinking to me, but given the fees paid for comparable players (Anthony Martial, for example), it's par for the course. There's also the work permit issue to consider, though Luan's impact at the Olympics may make the application process easier.

Worth a bid?
