Offer Made: Liverpool bid to sign exciting €25m Brazilian striker with 'amazing' talent. Replace Benteke?

With the new season only two weeks away, Liverpool are still seemingly in the market for a new striker, and new reports this week suggest that Jurgen Klopp is keen to add another Brazilian to his squad.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport:

* Gremio (Lucas's old club) have rejected Liverpool's offer to sign Gremio €25m-rated striker Luan Vieira.

* LFC scouts watched Vieira 'several times' but Gremio have now told Liverpool that the Brazilian is not for sale.

Some info about Luan:

* 23-year old striker, who can also play as false-9, or a left-winger. Current contract expires: 2018

* Gremio: 20 goals/15 assists (35) in 90 games (One every 193 minutes)

* Dec 2015: Gremio reportedly rejected a €10m bid from Valencia.

* May 2016: Named in Brazil's provisional Copa América squad, but missed out on the final squad.

* Feb 2015: Gremio's General Coordinator, Junior Chávare, raved: "Luan is just starting to take off. His potential is amazing, and he's only at about 55% of his ability so far".

* May 2014: Ex-Gremio manager Enderson Moreira's assessment: "Luan is a false-9. He spends half his time attacking/scoring, and half the time creating an attacker is creating. Few clubs in the world have a player like that".

Liverpool arguably need another striker, but €25m sounds like wishful thinking to me, and also there's the work permit issue to consider.

Additionally, Vieira's creative return is merely average, and a goal every 349 minutes in the Brazilian league is less than inspiring.

This has all the hallmarks of a panic buy to me, though I'd rather see Liverpool panic buying Brazilians than overpriced Brits.
