It's not often I can say this, but it's a day of excellent transfer business for Liverpool, with two players leaving the club for surprisingly good fees.
According to The Guardian:
"Bournemouth have signed Jordon Ibe^ for a club-record fee, understood to be £15m. Ibe completed a medical on Wednesday".
The BBC adds:
"Martin Skrtel* has completed his move to Fenerbahce for £5m".
Liverpool are often on the receiving end of the ludicrous 'tax' on overhyped British players, but this time, it's the Reds doing the extorting, and £20m combined for Ibe and Skrtel (who cost £6m 8 years ago) is great business.
What's even more impressive is that Liverpool squeezed £15m out of Bournemouth despite Ibe's clear regression last season. It's a stunning transfer fee for a 20-year old, and with any luck, the Reds will be able to flog the likes of MArkovic and Alberto for similar fees (sounds unlikely, but so did £15m for Ibe).
Sadio Mane is an instant upgrade on Ibe, but it remains to be seen whether Matip turns out to be an upgrade on Skrtel *over a consistent period of time*.
Ibe didn't really progress last season, but like Benteke, he didn't really have Klopp's full confidence, so a new environment, and encouraging manager may make all the difference.
Good luck!
^ Feb 2016: Hailed by Thierry Henry for 'amazing' talent.
* Dec 2015: Described by Jan Molby as an 'aggressive' defender. Reportedly on £75k-a-week
