Anfield Update: Klopp confirms 'wonderful' attacker will play for 'Liverpool' in the 'future'

Over the last few months, a whole host of young players have either left the club, or gone out on loan, but with the new season just two weeks away, Liverpool attacker Sheyi Ojo appears to have escaped the ongoing Academy cull. For now, that is. Ojo is developing into a firm fan favourite, but will he stay in the senior squad over the next couple of years?

According to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, Ojo is definitely part of his plans for the future. When asked last night whether Ojo will leave on loan this summer, Klopp told reporters:

"I don't know. We will have to see. Sheyi is a wonderful player and his future is 100 per cent at Liverpool. We don't have to make decisions so early. We have had some injuries. We need to make the boys as fit as possible".

This sounds like Klopp is waiting to see if the club picks up any injuries before sending Ojo on loan. If none of the club's attackers succumb to the club's ongoing injury curse before the end of the transfer window, then I have no doubt that Ojo will be farmed out on loan.

With Origi, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Mane, Sturridge Wijnaldum, and Markovic in the squad, there's little chance of Ojo getting regular game time next season, especially with a drastically reduced fixture list.

As such, even though Klopp is not in favour of the current system, a loan deal is probably the best option for Ojo to continue his development.

Given the choice, I'd rather see Liverpool sell Markovic, and keep Ojo in the squad, but it looks like Klopp appears to have a soft-spot for the Serbian attacker.

Ojo vs. Markovic: who is the preferable option?
