Macca blasts: 'Excellent' £10m Liverpool star totally 'blew his big chance' on Monday

Liverpool are well represented at Euro 2016, but so far, only Joe Allen, Danny Ward, Martin Skrtel, and Adam Lallana have actually started games for their respective countries. The likes of Benteke, Origi, Mignolet, hendo, Milner, Sturridge, and Can have been rooted to the bench, but Origi got a chance from the subs bench against Italy, and according to Reds legend Steve McManaman, he wasted his opportunity to impress.

Analysing Italy's 2-0 victory on Monday, Macca - who previously described Origi as 'excellent - told ESPN^:

"Liverpool’s Divock Origi came on and had two big opportunities against Italy, but he blew his big chance today".

In my view, if Origi's ridiculous blonde mohawk is symbolic of the self-absorbed 'Me Me Me' attitude that regularly undermines Belgium on the international stage.

There's a manifest lack of unity and leadership in the team, and although Belgium have a massively talented squad, it's a group of individuals desperate for personal glory, and not - like Italy - a unified team.

Belgium richly deserved their 2-0 defeat, and as Macca notes, Origi fluffed a couple of golden opportunities to score. Perhaps if he spent less time on personal grooming, and more time focused on improving his game, he'd be a more consistently effective player.

Obviously, I'm exaggerating to make a point, but seriously, only someone desperate for attention gets a blonde mohawk, and Origi got his hair Balotelli-style barnet just before Euro 2016, which tells you everything you need to know. As Mr. Miyagi once said:

'Man who style hair like Balotelli, play like Balotelli'.

Will Origi get another chance? Belgium have Benteke and Batshuyi in their squad, so next time, the manager might call on one of those two instead.
