Anfield Megadeal: Liverpool make €45m offer for 'fantastic' attacker. Agent confirms transfer 'is possible'

Liverpool continue to be linked with central midfielders, and the latest El Centrocampista to enter the Reds' transfer radar is 'fantastic' Napoli star Marek Hamsik.

According to Gazetta dello Sport's Emanuele Giulianelli today:

"Liverpool's new target is Marek Hamsik. Aurelio De Laurentis [Napoli president] has received a proposal of €45m for the midfielder, who has been offered a contract of four years at €6m".

Over the weekend, Hamsik's Agent claimed that a summer transfer is possible. He told Il Mattino:

"I've received calls from several clubs. Everything is possible. At the moment I would say that it's 50/50 [that he's leaving]".

Hamsik appears to have different plans, though, and after Slovakia's victory over Russia, he noted:

"I don't know [about leaving]. I'm sure there's room for improvement. Hopefully my future will still be in Napoli."

Some info about Hamsik

* 28-year old attacking midfielder. Current contract expires: 2018

* Napoli: 98 goals/93 assists (191) in 402 games (One every 160 mins)

* Last season: 19 goals/assists in 46 apps (One every 195 mins)

* Missed only 10 games through injury for his entire career. Averaged 44 games a season for the last 9 years.

* Jun 2016: Slovakia boss Jan Kozak insisted: "I think Napoli has become too small for him. He deserves to play at a really big club".

Is Liverpool a bigger club than Napoli right now? Debatable. Historically, the Reds are more successful, and worldwide, the fanbase is significantly bigger, though Napoli are in the Champions League next season, and if Hamsik moves on, I doubt he'll take a step down (purely in football terms) to sign for Liverpool.

That aside, Hamsik is (IMO) a great target: massively experienced, consistent, tall (which will bring much-needed variety to Liverpool's attacking options), and - importantly - he's rarely injured.

€45m seems excessive, though, and I can't see FSG splurging that amount on a player who'll be 29 this year. That said, if this story is true, then the price doesn't seem to be an issue.
