Sign for Liverpool? Anfield hero hails 'phenomenal' €30m Euro sensation who slammed Klopp at BVB

After the first round of Euro 2016 games, Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is deservedly being hailed for his excellent performances for Wales, but according to ex-Red Danny Murphy, one of Jurgen Klopp's former players is taking the Euros by storm.

Speaking to the BBC today, Murphy raved:

"Ivan Perisic has been one of the stars of the tournament for me. His power and running ability is phenomenal".

On Monday, Perisic put in a man-of-the-match performance against Spain, and his winning goal condemned the Spaniards to the first European Championship defeat since 2004.

In April, Liverpool were linked with a €30m move for Perisic, but the 27-year old has negative history with Klopp:

* Perisic spent two years at Dortmund under Klopp (2011-2013)

* Nov 2012: Frustrated by a lack of playing time, Perisic told reporters: "I cannot be pleased with my situation. I don't get a lot of time on the pitch. When I play I score, but when I don't score, I am not an option for the next two or three games".

* When specifically asked about Klopp, Perisic added: "We have no relationship. He is the best coach in Germany right now, the number one, everyone accepts the subordinate role".

* Upon hearing Perisic's comments, Klopp scathed: "Public whining belongs to kindergarten. He [Perisic] should shut his mouth, work hard and make the coach select him – not complain about it to the reporters".

Predictably, Liverpool are are once again being linked with a move for Perisic, but like Henrikh Mkhitaryan - who recently criticised Klopp for restricting his creativity - Perisic's history with Klopp will probably put the stoppers on a move to Anfield.
