Contact Made: Liverpool keen to sign 'excellent' €20m attacker; Agent confirms transfer is a 'possibility'

Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for Braga winger Rafa Silva, and it appears that his Agent is actively trying to secure a Premier League transfer for the coveted Portuguese attacker.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Liverpool have already made 'preliminary contact' with Braga to discuss the possibility of a deal, and when asked this week about Silva's future, his agent told SW:

"Our client, Rafa Silva, sees with very good eyes the possibility of playing in the Premier League. We are working towards achieving this objective."

Some info about Silva, hailed as 'excellent' by Braga boss Paulo Fonseca:

* 22-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right. Current contract expires in 2019, and contains a €20m buyout clause.

* Braga: 25 goals/17 assists (42) in 121 games (Goal every 368 mins. G/A every 219 mins). 5 apps for the Portugal national team.

* This season: 20 goals/assists in 48 games (One every 181 mins)

* Feb 2016: Braga boss Paulo Fonseca raved: "Braga is not dependent on any player, but Rafa Silva has massive importance to the team".

There's little point continuing; In my view, Silva's creative stats are not good enough for Liverpool. New players coming in need should ideally be upgrades on existing members of the squad, and based on his primary stats, Silva is not a player who can take Liverpool to the next level.

In my view, spending €20m on a player who scores every 368 minutes is ill-advised, especially when there are plenty of wingers out there with far superior stats. Liverpool did the same with Markovic, who had similarly poor stats at Benfica, and look how that turned out.

Thanks, but no thanks.
