Transfer Warning: 'Fantastic' star admits he wants to replace £60k-a-week star 'at Liverpool'

Loris Karius: Mignolet's replacement, or yet another back-up? That's the question on every Liverpool's fan's mind right now, and the Reds' new 'keeper has reiterated once again that he is determined to oust Mignolet from his spot as a regular first-teamer.

In his first interview after agreeing a deal to sign for Liverpool, Karius insisted:

"I wouldn’t make the move if I thought I was just going to sit on the bench. I want to be in goal and play for Liverpool every week".

After signing, Liverpool handed 'fantastic' Karius the number one shirt, and in a new interview this weekend, the German restated his ambitious first-team goal:

"I wanted the number one shirt because...I want to be the number one here at Liverpool".

Reds legend Dietmar Hamann is convinced that Mignolet's days are numbered. Speaking to TalkSport this week, he noted:

“I think he will start the season as Liverpool’s number one. He might not hit the ground running, but I think something extraordinary has to happen in pre-season for Mignolet to keep goal in the first game.”

As much as I want Karius to replace Mignolet from day one, I can't see it happening. I just don't think Klopp is that ruthless, and looking at the situation objectively, Mignolet doesn't deserve to be summarily dumped (based on recent form).

I expect Klopp to start the season with Mignolet, and then possibly bring Karius in when Mignolet (inevitably) makes a mistake. That way, the manager will appear to be treating the Belgian in a fair manner.

Give Mignolet enough rope, and he'll hang himself (in a football sense), and hopefully, it'll just be a matter of time before Karius takes over.
