Redknapp: 'Sensational' £20m powerhouse is 'one of the best signings in years'. Liverpool transfer?

Who is the Premier League's signing of the season so far? Riyad Mahrez is the official PFA 'Player of the year, but according to Ex-Red Jamie Redknapp, there's one player in the league who is more deserving of the accolade.

In his column today for the Daily Mail, Redknapp selected Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante:

"He [Kante] is unique and is one of the best signings in years. He intercepts, he runs, he reads the game, he's good on the ball. He is a sensational midfield player and they are so hard to find".

Reds legend Jamie Carragher appears to agree:

"Kante has been just as influential as Mahrez and Jamie Vardy in Leicester’s rise to the top and another feather in the cap of their scouting department".

Mahrez and Vardy have already been linked with Liverpool this season, so it's just a matter of time before the same happens with Kante.

Should Liverpool should pursue him this summer? Reds fans certainly think so, and the results of a recent site poll on the suggest that the France midfielder has a lot of admirers amongst the LFC fanbase:

Kante won't come cheap. According to the Daily Mail:

"Kante is understood to have a clause in his contract which enables him to leave Leicester for any club willing to pay £20m".

Kante seems tailor-made for Jurgen Klopp's style of football, but if Leicester win the league, and Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League, it's hard to see why would want he'd want to sign for the Reds. Plus, after such a great season, a whole host of Champions League clubs will be lining up to sign him, which will probably put the stoppers on any move to Anfield.
