New 'Ronaldo' to Anfield? Liverpool reps fly out to watch record-breaking €30m attacker

With the transfer window only a couple of months away, Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for €30m-rated Rennes attacker Ousmane Dembele.

According to RMC Sport:

"A senior Liverpool official has scouted Dembele several times over the last few weeks. A club scout also travelled to France on Sunday to see Dembele play against Nice. Jürgen Klopp is an admirer of the 18-year old".

Some info about Dembele:

* 18-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right, or as an attacking midfielder. Current contract expires: 2018

* Rennes: 12 goals/5 assists in 24 games (One every 141 mins).

* Scored more times as an 18-year-old than anyone in Ligue 1 for over 25 years.

* Mar 2016: Barcelona sporting director Roberto Fernandez flew to Rennes to watch Dembele in action.

* Oct 2013: Dembele told reporters: "My main qualities are dribbling and speed. I have one role model, and that is Barcelona's Neymar".

* Feb 2016: Rennes sporting director Mikael Silvestre:“Ousmane reminds me of a young Ronaldo. I’m going to go out on a limb, but he could win the Ballon d’Or.”

* Feb 2016: Rennes coach Yannick Menu: “He [Dembele] has great fluidity to his game, great dribbling and technical qualities. We didn’t know if he was right or left footed!”

* ESPN Scouting Report (Excerpt): "Lethal in the penalty area. Divine ball control anywhere on the field. Two-footed, which makes him unpredictable to defenders. Successful dribbles second only to Marseille's Lassana Diarra".

Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are also tracking Dembele, and if it comes down a choice between those two European titans and Liverpool, there's probably only going to be one winner.

In my view, Dembele should stay in Rennes for 2-3 more years. At the age of 18, he's a regular starter for the club, and that almost certainly won't be the case ant Bayern or Barca.

If Dembele is good enough, then top teams will come calling again.
