Massive Boost: Liverpool free to sign €20m 'beast' after club bust-up. Decision made in Spain already

Last month, TalkSport claimed that Liverpool are one of five clubs chasing Valencia star Sofiane Feghouli, and new developments this week suggest that the Reds now have an increased chance of signing the Algerian attacker this summer.

In March, Spanish magazine Don Balon claimed that Valencia have already made the decision to sell Feghouli, and when asked about the attacker on Sunday, Valencia boss, Pako Ayesteran, appeared to confirm that Feghouli has no future at the Mestella:

"I do not know if he [Feghouli] will ever wear the Valencia shirt again".

Some info about Feghouli:

* 26-year old right-winger, whose current contract expires in June 2016. Release clause: €20m.

* 31 goals/40 assists in 202 apps for Valencia (Goal every 418 mins. Goal/assist every 182 mins).

* 5 injuries since the 2013/14 season (91 days out/16 games missed).

* Dec 2015: Voted "Best African Player in La Liga' by Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP).

* Apr 2016: Suspended by Valencia for refusing to take part in warm-down session following the club 2-1 La Liga victory over Sevilla.

* Often nicknamed the 'New Zidane'.

* Arsene Wenger's assessment: "Feghouli is physical beast with great technical qualities. When you see what he does on the field, he is exceptional" .

Thanks, but no thanks. Having watched Feghouli play many times, he's clearly an exciting player, but his end product is not good enough. One goal every 416 minutes is poor, and Liverpool already have enough attacking midfielders who fail to score on a consistent basis.

That said, like Hatem Ben Arfa, Feghouli is available on a free transfer this summer, so there's comparatively minimal financial risk involved.
