Done Deal in 24-hours? After Anfield 'talks', Liverpool to sign 'incredible' £25k-a-week star on 3-year deal

Earlier this month, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Liverpool were 'thinking about' a new contract for allegedly 'incredible' Reds full-back Jon Flanagan, and new reports today suggest that a deal may be concluded by the end of the week.

When asked in early March about Flanagan's contract situation, Klopp told reporters:

"Of course we are thinking about it [a new deal]. There will be talks and we will see what will happen. Hopefully it’s a positive solution on this side".

According to the Liverpool Echo today:

"A three-year deal [with Liverpool] has now been verbally agreed and barring any late issues. Flanagan will put pen to paper at Melwood on Friday".

Flanagan's Scouse supports in the media (Aldo, Carra etc) will be happy, and ever since he returned from injury, they've repeatedly hyped him up as some kind of superstar, and bludgeoned us over the head with the fact that Flanagan is a Liverpudlian, and therefore automatically deserving of a new deal.

In my view, Liverpool should hand Flanagan another one-year contract, with an option to extend after proving consistent fitness. After 20 months on the sidelines, that seems prudent, but after handing consistently error-prone 'keeper Simon Mignolet a 5-year deal, financial prudence is clearly not Liverpool's strong-suit.

I personally feel that Flanagan - reportedly on £25k-a-week - is massively overhyped, but I'm in the minority with that view, and a recent poll on the site emphatically confirms Flanagan's popularity:

Who is Liverpool's best full-back: Clyne, Moreno, or Flanagan?
