The Mario Gotze saga continues! 93% of participants in a recent site poll voted YES to Liverpool signing Gotze, and new reports today suggest that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is definitely interested in a reunion with the £37m-rated attacker, who allegedly wants a move to Anfield.
Over the last six months, Liverpool have been continually linked with Gotze, described last week by Joachim Low as a player with 'incredible' skills.
Indeed, in a recent interview, Gotze confirmed that he is still in close contact with Klopp:
"We [he and Klopp] text now and again. It [a move away] hinges on many factors”
According to Sky Sports today:
"Liverpool are interested in making a summer move for Mario Gotze, Sky sources understand".
The Liverpool Echo adds:
"Liverpool are increasingly confident they can snap up Gotze [who] is keen to link up with [Klopp]".
In my view, Liverpool should steer clear. Gotze's injury history is a massive concern, and this season alone, he's spent 138 days out injured, and missed 21 games.
Additionally, injuries notwithstanding, Guardiola - who appears to be a good judge of a player - clearly doesn't rate Gotze, and that should ring some alarm bells around Anfield.
That said, sometimes it just takes the right manager to bring the best out of a player, and given their prior history, Klopp seems best equipped to get Gotze firing on all cylinders.
