Aldo raves: 'Fantastic' £60k-a-week Liverpool star delivered 'best' performance vs. Man Utd. Agree?

Last week, Liverpool dispatched Manchester United with ease, and (IMO) delivered one of the club's most effective performances of the season. To a man, everyone did their part, but according to Reds legend John Aldridge one particular Reds player delivered his best performance for LFC.

In his column this week for the Liverpool Echo, Aldo - who previously described Clyne as 'fantastic' enthused:

"Nathaniel Clyne^ produced arguably his best display for Liverpool [vs. Man Utd]. He was very solid defensively and a threat when he went forward".

Defensively, Clyne clearly did his job as Liverpool kept a clean sheet, but I'm finding it hard to recall any standout attacking moments from Clyne during the game.

Defensively, Clyne is a solid performer overall, and considering that's his primary role, it's fair to say that he's good value for the £12m transfer fee.

However, attack-wise, major improvement is needed in one particular area: Crosses into the box. Clyne's crossing stats this season:

* Total Crosses: 67

* Successful: 9 (13%)

* Unsuccessful: 58 (87%)

58 unsuccessful crosses, and that's just in the league (!) Clyne's end product is worse when factoring in cup games.

Just imagine if just 20% of those total crosses actually found another Liverpool player in the box; it's conceivable that the team may have a few more goals right now, which may have turned a couple of draws into victories.

That said, for tomorrow's game, the defensive side of Clyne's game should take priority, and another clean sheet will see the Reds through to the next round.

^ Reportedly on £60k-a-week
