Not Again: 'Incredible' Liverpool star injured at Old Trafford; suffers 16th hamstring injury of the season

After seven days off, Liverpool are well-rested for Thursday's Europa League clash with Manchester United, but on the eve of the game, the club's hamstring injury curse appears to have struck again.

Since Jurgen Klopp arrived in October, Liverpool players have collectively suffered 13 separate hamstring injuries, which is an unprecedented run of injuries.

Well, after pulling up in training today, it looks like Alberto Moreno has suffered the club's 16th hamstring injury of the season.

According to the Liverpool Echo:

"Moreno pulled up complaining of pain in his hamstring during Wednesday night's training session. Moreno played no further part in the exercise and was later seen deep in discussions with head physio Chris Morgan".

LFC Hamstring Injuries: 2015/16

* Jordan Rossiter (x2), Philippe Coutinho (x2), Joe Allen, Christian Benteke, Kolo Toure, Jose Enrique, James Milner, Daniel Sturridge, Simon Mignolet, Martin Skrtel, Divock Origi, Dejan Lovren, Jordon Ibe, Alberto Moreno

When one door closes, another opens, and if Moreno misses out, Brad Smith is waiting in the wings to take his place.

In my view, losing Moreno - praised for his 'incredible energy by ex-Red Neil Mellor - is no big deal, and it may even benefit the team as the Spaniard is prone to defensive mistakes and positioning issues.

Moreno has been pretty solid over the last few games, but that just means he's due a costly goal-creating mistake, and if he's not playing, he can't make that mistake. Cast-iron logic! ;-)

Smith is the obvious option to take over, but it won't surprise me in the slightest to see Klopp prioritise experience and play Lovren or Sakho at left-back. There's also a possibility he'll switch Clyne to left-back, and put Toure at right-back, but Smith (IMO) is the best option.
