Simon Mignolet may have recently signed a new deal, but the transfer rumours just keep on coming, and the latest name to enter the fray is AC Milan prodigy Gianluigi Donnarumma.
According to Italian newspaper Tutto Sport this week:
* Liverpool, Ajax, and Barcelona are all tracking 16-year old Donnarumma.
* Barcelona have already made a €30m bid for the teenage goalkeeper.
Any deal appears to be a non-starter, though, as Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi claimed this week that Donnarumma is not for sale:
“He is admired by all and will not leave no matter what offer comes in. He will be Milan's goalkeeper for the next 20 years.”
Additionally, as confirmed in a recent interview, Donnarumma is a Milan fan, and is consequently unlikely to leave:
"Milan have always been my favourite team. I’m a Milan fan and my dream is to one day become an icon for this team".
Some info about Donnarumma:
* Turns 17 this week. Current contract expires in the summer of 2018.
* 13 goals conceded in 17 games for Milan (One every 117 minutes)
* 6 clean sheets (35% of games/One every 255 minutes)
* According to ever-deluded agent Mino Raiola (who recently claimed Balotelli is 'worth €70m'): "He [Donnarumma] is worth €170m [£131m[. He has a great future. He's an extraordinary kid and everyone loves him."
A 16-year old goalkeeper replacing Mignolet? Personally, I have a problem with that (if you're good enough, you're old enough etc), but irrespective of Donnarumma's fast-track career, there's no chance (IMO) of that ever happening.
Imagine the insult to Mignolet; being replaced by a 21/22 year old (or an older 'keeper) is one thing, but dumped for a child who's barely out of puberty? That's gotta hurt.
