Massive News: Top 'sources' confirm €50m goal-machine wants transfer to Liverpool. Done deal soon?

The deal for Shakhtar Donetsk sensation Alex Teixeira is inching ever closer, and according to new reports over the weekend, the Brazilian attacker is desperate to sign for Liverpool.

According to Sky Sports 'sources':

"Teixeira has told Shakhtar he wants to join Liverpool. Coutinho and Lucas [are] two of his best friends in the game. Teixeira's reps are waiting for a response from Shakhtar as they push through a move to Liverpool".

Speaking to Globesporte today, Teixeira admitted that he wants to 'play in the Premier League' for a 'big club', and confirmed that Liverpool are trying to sign him:

"I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them. I want a challenge and to further my career there [in the Prem]".

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp isn't giving anything away, though. When asked about Teixeira in his pre-Stoke press conference today, he told reporters:

"Maybe it surprises you. I have nothing to say to things like this.”

Teixeira is having a banner year so far, but €50m - the price Shakhtar reportedly want - is, in my view, way too high. The club's boss, Mircea Lucescu is convinced he's worth that much, though:

"He [Teixeira] is the technical leader of my team and should also be the technical leader for Brazil. At the end of the season - were he to continue with this performance - his value is 50m euros."

€50m for a 26-year old who's never made a single international appearance, friendly or otherwise? Give me a break. In my view, a non-international (in the prime of his career) - is never worth €50m.

£25m - Liverpool's alleged offer - is a fair price, and Shakhtar should just include some performance-related adds in the contract to cover future achievements (international call-up; Champions League performance etc).

Whatever happens
