Bad News: Klopp confirms £150k-a-week Liverpool star has 'really bad' injury. Out until next year?

When it rains, it pours. Just when it looked Liverpool's injury crisis was easing, the problems are piling up once again, and Reds vice-captain James Milner is the latest to join the ever-expanding injury list.

In his pre-Watford press conference today, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed:

"It's really bad. Milner has a problem with his calf. After warming up, he felt something.

"We made a scan, and we saw that it’s a muscle injury. We don’t know how long. For this weekend, it’s not an option".

Milner joins Sturridge, Flanagan, Sakho, and recently injured duo Lovren, and Rossiter on the sidelines, and based on Klopp's assessment, it possible that the England man - whose contract is reportedly worth £31m over 4 years (£150k-a-week) - could be out until the new year.

With Henderson, Lucas, Allen, and Can in the squad, Liverpool are well covered in central midfield, so losing Milner is barely a problem.

After all, like Adam Lallana, and Roberto Firmino, it's not as if Milner - hailed by Klopp as a 'machine' and 'the perfect professional - is currently making an positive difference to Liverpool's results.

That said, Milner has actually contributed a few goals/assists this season, and if Henderson gets injured again whilst he's out, then Liverpool will be left with Can, Allen, and Lucas, which is one of the most creatively bereft midfield units in the Premier League.
