Done-Deal: After 'secret talks', Liverpool agree to sign £63k-a-week title-winner. Announcement next week

Liverpool are currently linked with a January move for ex-Borussia Dortmund star Kevin Grosskreutz, and according to reports in Turkey, the Reds have already agreed a deal to bring the versatile midfielder to Anfield.

Over the weekend, The Mirror claimed:

"Jurgen Klopp will make a move for Kevin Grosskreutz in January. His family have not settled [in Turkey], and he is anxious to cut his losses".

In 2012, Grosskreutz admitted that his 'dream' is to 'play for Liverpool', and according to Turkish newspaper Takvim today:

* Liverpool have agreed to sign Grossgreutz on a 3-year deal, and the announcement will allegedly be made 'within 10-days'.

* Grosskreutz - reportedly on £63k-a-week at Galatasaray - is currently in the UK, and has held 'secret' talks with Liverpool over the move.

If this is true, then I can see the logic behind the transfer.

* Grosskreutz is incredibly versatile, and at Dortmund, Klopp played him in 'many positions', including left-wing; right-wing; left and right back; central midfield, and right midfield.

* With Liverpool picking up regular injuries all over the field, Klopp will have an experienced, robust player (only 17 games missed through injury in the last five years) in the squad capable of providing effective cover all over the field

To be honest, Grosskreutz's creative stats are not very impressive. One goal every 636 minutes is no improvement on Lallana, Ibe, Milner, Can, and Firmino, and Liverpool already have Emre Can in the squad, who is also a 'jack of all trades'.

That said, Grosskreutz's experience shouldn't be discounted. He's worked with Klopp before, so he'll definitely fit into Liverpool's system, and with two Bundesliga titles, the 27-year old knows what it takes to win a league title.

Plus, with a transfer fee reported to be in the €2.5m range, there's very little risk involved.
