Transfer Shocker: 'Unplayable' £32m Liverpool star could leave Anfield after only 6 months

In what must be one of the most improbable transfer rumours of the year, Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is reportedly a January transfer target for Premier League flops Chelsea.

According to The Mirror:

* Chelsea are considering a shock move for Benteke 'to lift the gloom at Stamford Bridge'.

* Benteke - who cost Liverpool £32m - is on a priority target list assembled by deposed boss Jose Mourinho, and new bos Guus Hiddink is allegedly also interested.

In my view, Benteke is the least of Liverpool's problems. The Belgian is a proven, quality striker, and his goals/assists record (at Villa, and for his entire career) categorically proves this:

* 142 goals/assists in 251 games (Goal/assist every 129 mins).

* Villa and Liverpool: 70 goals/assists in 118 games (One every 136 mins).

Clearly, if utilised properly (which he isn't at Liverpool), Benteke - described by Steven Gerrard as 'unplayable' - can score goals.

That said, it's painfully obvious that Benteke is not really suited to Liverpool's style of play.

As such, if Chelsea (or some other team) come in with a good offer in January, then it may ultimately be in the club's best interests to accept, but only IF if Klopp brings someone else in to immediately replace Benteke, and that may not be possible in January.
