Marquee Signings? Klopp reveals Liverpool's January transfer plans, and confirms he 'will' sign players if 'injuries' continue

Over the last months, multiple reports have claimed that Jurgen Klopp is planning a 'considerable overhaul' of Liverpool's squad, and whilst it seems unlikely that the club will make wholesale changes in, Klopp has confirmed that he is willing to sign players during the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking to Soccer Saturday today, Klopp mused:

“The January transfer window is not the perfect one because you have no time to train...but if we need [to sign players] we will do...if we have more injuries. At this moment, there’s no decision".

Given the current situation right now, do Liverpool 'need' to sign anyone during the January transfer window? Arguably yes:

* Goals are still a major problem for Liverpool, and once again, none of the club's midfielders are scoring/creating on a regular basis.

* If the Reds sign one player in January, it should (IMO) be an experienced, prolific, robust attacking player (with no significant injury history), who is capable of providing genuine width (i.e. Yarmolenko).

* It's a mistake to rely on Lallana, Coutinho, Milner, and Can to get regular goals (the last three years proves this), and Firmino still hasn't scored a single goal since arriving at the club.

* There's also an argument for bringing in a new striker, and if Sturridge gets injured again between now and Christmas (which is inevitable), then that will become a top priority.

* With Benteke also injury prone, it's folly to go into the rest of the season relying on those two, and Origi isn't good enough to pick up the slack.

The full-back/goalkeeper positions also need attention, but those are (arguably) less of a priority, and can be addressed during the summer transfer window.

Many fans will be hoping to see Liverpool secure a marquee signing (Aubameyang, or Reus, for example, both of whom are currently linked with Liverpool), but, historically, spending big bucks in the transfer market just isn't Klopp's style.

In January, what positions/players do Liverpool need to focus on, or is the squad strong enough to make it to the summer?
