Liverpool XI vs. Sion: 'Amazing' attacker out; 'wonderful' teen starting? BR confirms 'several' changes (PREDICTION LEAGUE)

After a much-needed 3-2 victory over Aston Villa, it's imperative that Liverpool keep the momentum going today with a victory over FC Sion. The game is at Anfield, so, in theory, the Reds have a major advantage, but that doesn't always translate into a victory, or even a good performance.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he will make changes for the game, which may disrupt the team's fluidity, but the focus is clearly on Sunday's Merseyside Derby, and given the club's poor overall form in the league, that's perfectly understandable.

Pre-match news:

* Rodgers on possible changes: "[Sion] is an opportunity for young players and an opportunity for players on the fringe of the team".

* Yes, it's an opportunity for 'fringe' players...except Joao Carlos Teixeira, of course, who isn't even in the Europa League squad, which is a disgrace, but that's a different article.

* Rodgers has confirmed that 'amazing' striker Daniel Sturridge will not feature in the game.

* On whether 'wonderful' Rossiter will play: "He’s a young player that is developing well. He has a strong personality. He’ll be in contention again for the game tomorrow.”

* Rodgers rested a whole host of senior players for Liverpool's Europa League game against Bordeaux, and he'll probably do the same tonight, with the likes of Milner, Clyne, Skrtel, and Lucas being rested.

Liverpool went with a 343 against Bordeaux, and Rodgers will probably stick with that against Sion. Possible lineup:

------------------- Bogdan
-------- Gomez ----- Toure ----- Sakho
Ibe ------------- Can --- Rossiter ---- Moreno
------------ Coutinho ---- Lallana
--------------------- Origi

If Toure isn't fit (after being steamrollered by Mignolet in the Bordeaux game):

------------------- Bogdan
-------- Can ----- Gomez ----- Sakho
Ibe --------- Lucas --- Rossiter ---- Moreno
------------ Coutinho ---- Lallana
-------------------- Origi

Sion have lost successive games in the Swiss league, and the players will head into tonight's game with stinging criticism ringing in their ears.

After Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat against Vaduz, the club's chairman Christian Constantin, blasted the team as 'awful' and 'pathetic', and further raged:

“I never thought that we could fall so low. We cannot say that the players have shown motivation. The players should be ashamed of being paid. I do not know who deserves to wear the shirt of FC Sion in the mythical stadium [Anfield]".

There's always the possibility that Constantin's criticism may galvanise the team, but hopefully, this it will have a negative effect on Sion's confidence.
