Owen tells FSG: LFC should sign 'exceptional' £77m beast to replace Gerrard. Agree?

On Friday, Steven Gerrard confirmed that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, which means that Brendan Rodgers (should he stay in the job) now has the gargantuan task of finding someone to replace Liverpool's captain. Who is capable of filling that void? According to Michael Owen, the Reds should turn to an ex-Manchester United player.

Discussing Gerrard in a recent interview, Owen told BT Sport:

"The ideal replacement [for Gerrard] is someone like Paul Pogba at Juventus. He's an exceptional talent who can drive on in that central midfield role"

Reds legend Jamie Carragher is also a fan of Pogba, and in a recent column, he enthused:

"Pogba looks ideally suited to the Premier League. He would be expensive, but I would love to see another midfield powerhouse in our league"

Pogba was linked with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United over the summer, but at the time, the 21-year old made it clear he had no interest in returning to the Premier League:

"I am very happy to play for Juve, I am just focused on work at this moment. The future does not concern me, I live in the present. I am not thinking of the contract and my goal is to continue to do well in the field."

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a £77m bid for Pogba this summer, which is an utterly ridiculous price, and almost certainly rules Liverpool out of any potential deal.

That said, the reality is that Liverpool are going to have to splash the cash to bring in a player who's capable of having a Gerrard-like impact on the team. The Reds can't get away with trying to do it on the cheap, and at the age of 21, Pogba has 10+ years at the top to come.

As such, £7.7m a year (over 10 years) can be justified (somewhat) for a player who has the potential to become one of the world's best midfielders, though it's still an obscene price, and I doubt Pogba will actually go for that kind of money.

It would be sweet to steal Pogba from Manchester United, though it would also be hilarious to see United pay through the nose (to the tune of £77m) to re-sign a player they sold for £800k :-)

  1. We should also sign Messi,Robben,Yaya Toure,Aguero and Suarez back on loan......

  2. We have midfielders aplenty. We needa durable striker...with talent. Berahino looked awesome today.Yes it was Gateshead, but so composed on the ball and such an eye for a clear tube of air to the corner of the net. He is wasting time at WBA.

  3. Look at Ojo we have an academy for a reason
buy players with good stats from small leagues like southamton with Mane,Tadic
Buy rejects at big club like Betrand and Alderweild

but never ever buy players highly rates unless they are like Suarez or Torres
Never buy next big things like Markovic,Moreno

    ReplyDelete
  4. And I want a date with a 25 yr old Pamela Anderson, I reckon I have more hope of that happening aswell.... Ahh, I love to dream...

    ReplyDelete
  5. youve always got pam of hand

    ReplyDelete
  6. Again you confound me, Marko is coming to life, and Moreno is looking like a class acquasition aswell... What do you expect, 20 goals from a defender and 50 from a winger.. They are kids (human kids) not robots... Torres, Suarez were the next big thing, and thats exactly what they became at Liverpool, the big thing we're all hoping for....

  7. I'm one lucky son of a gun, I have two.....They will definately help in my fantasy...

  8. Your not a relation of Pams are you? Any chance you could put in a good word for me...?

  9. The constant signing of new players is not conducive to forming a successful team, especially the budget players that we seem to sign. Henderson and Can have the talent and mobility to be in the middle for years to come. All successful teams have stability not constant chopping and changing, with Gerrard gone replace him with Can and allow him and Henderson to flourish together.

  10. a can hendo cm pair is good enough for me with someone like song to back it up...if we are splashing big cash ill say it once again we need a striker and a goalie and possibly another cb

    ReplyDelete
  11. ...................................Markovic
    ...........................Can.............Henderson

    loos a top midfield

    ReplyDelete
  12. it has the potential to be but its dependent on what system Rodgers uses ...im all for giving the new and young guys a place in the team

    ReplyDelete
  13. Top midfield looool
    This is a to midfield

    Silva
    Fernandinho Yaya T.
    Fernando

  14. I think this is the future, I have high hopes for Hendo as Captain aswell, I think he is as close to Gerrard as we could hope for aswell... I have a feeling that he will be a major influence in the coming seasons, now he will be let loose from covering for Gerrard...

    ReplyDelete
  15. i dont buy into the whole as close as gerrard /rush souness thing hendo needs to be hendo .a great team beats great individuals 10 times out of 10 and rodgers has lost sight of that ..we need players who suit the system and the team regardless of value and kudos, im sick of square pegs in round holes because of there value or that they are in the click ....gerrard was a good player but he was no better than alonso or mash was in there roles or hypia was in his or finnan in his

    ReplyDelete
  16. maybe to city fan it is but it means sh*t to me

    ReplyDelete
  17. if rodgers uses moreno right he can be effective as can marko ...marko isnt a wing back ...give him a free role up front to take players on to see what he can do

    ReplyDelete
  18. more like hans christian anderson

    ReplyDelete
  19. Don't forget his wages too, they'd likely be in the region of £5m a year

    ReplyDelete
  20. he earns less then henderson , Skrtel, Johnson

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hahaha you are class mate :D

    ReplyDelete
  22. Whos better value Saido Mane 8m or Lazar Markovic 20m?
or Ryan Betrand or Alberto Moreno?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely, don't misunderstand, I wasn't inferring he was the next Gerrard, just that he has all the qualities Gerrard has, and is almost a perfect replacement, without having to be a replacement, Just cut him loose and let him do his thing.. We would find it diifcult to find anyone with the level of passion Hendo has for the club (like Gerrard) and is probably the closest we'll get to that loyal passion Gerrard brings to the team...

    ReplyDelete
  24. At the moment he probably does, but do you think he'll agree a contract with a new club for wages similar to what he's getting now? Why would he leave Juve for a few extra thousand a week? It'll take big wages to tempt him back to England IMO

    ReplyDelete
  25. We will sign Pogba, when Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait purchase LFC. We will surely have the funds for such signings.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Gerrard 140k
    Johnson 120k
    Toure 70k
    Balotelli 90k ?

liverpool could have 420k a week wages off and we dont really need depth anymore with no europe next season so we can afford one or two good players

But i would rather lfc looked at smaller leagues for player like Mnae

    ReplyDelete
  27. Let's see in a couple of seasons when both have settled in and found their groove....Too judge now is just unreasonable... Marko was injured for the first month or so ofr the season, hence it has taken longer for him to find his feet...

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hope that day never arrives, I enjoy belittling Chelsea and City for not having earned but bought their titles... It's the only thing I have to cling onto.. Please let me keep it...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Liverpool should start scouting Mexican,Swedish,Austrian, Switzerland,Denmark, Norway , Holland, Belgium

    for players

look at Villa signed Benteke for 5m
look at southapton signed Mane for 6m
Look at west ham signed Erner Valencia

these leagues are where you get bargain players from

    ReplyDelete
  30. Third in league table of spending is Liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  31. And when they don't hit the floor running, flop is what they'll be called, and people will be moaning about the clubs lack of ambition in the transfer market.....

    ReplyDelete
  32. But it's money LFC have earned, and not some uber rich sugar daddies pouring personnal fortunes into the club to manufacture the clubs worth....

    ReplyDelete
  33. B Rodgers needs to bring in these 5 players in January: 2015

GK: A Begovic(27) Of Stoke three times the GK Mignolet is for £10-£14M

DM: M Schneiderlin(25) Of Southampton for £16-£21M so we can ship out and sell L Leiva(27) to Inter or Napoli for £9-£11M

    CM: M Sissoko(25) Of Newcastle for £12-£16M to compete with E Can(20) and J Henderson(24) to replace J Allen(24)

    CM/ DM: D Alli(18) Of MK Dons for £7-£9M

    FD: L Adriano(27) Of S Donesk or P Aubamayeng(25) Of Borussia Dortmund for £7-£17M to replace F Borini(23)

Whilst these 6 players should be shipped and sold as soon as possible:

    GK: B Jones (32) RB: G Johnson(30) DM: L Leiva(27)

    CM: J Allen(24) AM: Suso(20) FD: F Borini(23)

And hopefully with the 5 top class experienced players at the top brought in and the 6 dead wood average players just above shipped out. B Rodgers can pick a solid side week in week out with good formation and get us back in the top 4 and keep us there.

And then in the Summer: These players should be shipped out asap:

    CB: S Coates(24) CB: K Toure(33) RB: A Wisdom(20)

    AM: L Alberto(21) RW/LW: O Assaidi(26) FD: I Aspas(27)

    FD: R Lambert(32)

And now we know our amazing class loyal great servant is leaving also in Summer : S Gerrard(34)

That would be EIGHT players out in summer, these 5 players should be brought to club in the summer if we can make Champions league again:

CB: A Romagnoli(19) Of Roma for £8-£11M to come in and compete with Lovren(25), Llori(21), Sakho(24) and Skrtel(30)

LB: A Robertson(20) Of Hull for £7-£10M to compete with Moreno(22) for the next 6-7 seasons

    CM: T Alacantra(23) Of Bayern Munich Or I Rakitic(26) for £23-£30M
as the Marquee signing to replace the class, creativity, quality that S Gerrard(34) gave club for so long

RW: R Aarons(19) Of Newcastle for £7-£10M to compete with Sterling(20) and Markovic(20)

LW: K Bellarabi(24) Of Bayer Leverkusen on Free Transfer

  34. You always have to have a set number of homegrown players in each squad, even if they don't get a game, thats why English/homegrown players are overpriced.. Britian is tiny, so we have a small number of homegrown, where as the rest of the world consists of 9 billion people to pick from, hence the reason they are always cheaper..Supply and Demand.

    ReplyDelete
  35. How many have city signed since mansour?
    Lescott,Barry,Milner , Clichy

thats it that can be considered home grown

    ReplyDelete
  36. Clichy not, but the others are, but they are in and out all the time, I wouldn't consider them mainstays of the first team... Just look at the number of homegrown players to start any game for a top 6 team.... I have seen some team sheets like Chelsea and city that didn't even contain one homegrown player in the starting line up...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well I Doubt they are going to get £27M for him , they will get between £17-£25M

We should offer £17M and go up to £21M

Lallana(26) and Loven(25) will both be hits over next few seasons.

Schneiderlin(25) played with Lovren(25) last season and plays with M Sakho(24) in the National team, so a centre back pairing of Lovren(25) RCB and Sakho(24) LCB

With Schneiderlin(25) and M Sissoko(25) just in front of them would work a treat and bring some solidity to defence and midfield

    ReplyDelete
  38. For foreign players to be considered homegrown, they have to come through the academy ofr an english club for atleast 5 years before their 21 b'day...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Then i do not want any homegrown players

we have an academy that should fill the quota in conjunction with fa rules
other then that we should buy like southampton do

    ReplyDelete
  40. A centre Midfield trio of
    Lallana(26)
    Schneiderlin(25) Sissoko(25)

would be able to compete with all the top sides in the league no problem.

And then this would be 2nd choice centre midfield trio:

    Coutinho(22)
    Alli(18) / Can(20) Henderson(24)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rafas team in 08-09 only had
    Gerrard,Carragher as home grown players
and only two players bought from a pl side Mascherano and Benayoun

    no fan was upset

    ReplyDelete
  42. The homegrown rule wasn't brought in then, only later.... But I'm not complaining about foreign players playing over english, merely saying that supply and demand is the reason homegrown players are more expensive than exclusively foreign players...

    ReplyDelete
  43. So it does not work like that
look at Cech and Courtois , Cech does not liek sitting on bench
henderson wont go from vice captain to bench player
while Can who is embarked by Germany to play in next world cup will get bored on bench when he can play for a top German team like Shalke

Depth is not that important Rafa alm ost won league with
    .............................Gerrard
    ...........................Alonso.............Mascherano

teh back up was Lucas and Spearing

    ReplyDelete
  44. Money earned? Thanks to the Boston Red Sox that keep on wining them MLB titles so FSG can ship the cash to Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Academy players here for 5 years or more before their 21st birthday are considered homegrown..

    ReplyDelete
  46. Is Steven leaving because of the money?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Two cheap back up goalkeepers as part of your squad ,
your a quarter of the way of filling quota

We have to adopt transfer policy of Southapton and west ham(the new one not including buying Carroll and downing)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd guess game time, he's already worthn some 45 million already, so I would guess he's not too bothered about cash...

    ReplyDelete
  49. At end of the day the best teams have pure top class quality players competing for places year in year out and if side are winning trophies, players stay determined. Its when you don't have enough top class quality players, you can't rest best players, the best players over time become complacent because they have no real class or quality competition for their place.

Sterling(20) needs resting, S Gerrard(34) should have been rested most of the season.
But due to the lack of class and quality in squad , B Rodgers has over played both of them this season.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No way Coutinho will be happy rotating

    ReplyDelete
  51. Each Premier League club has to have 8 homegrown players in a 25 man squad..

    ReplyDelete
  52. When you can get another 20m and live in LA, youd be a fool to reject

    ReplyDelete
  53. 20m more for 4 years living in LA
sounds nice even if i had 45m

    ReplyDelete
  54. name me chelseas and citys one then they know how to bend rules

    ReplyDelete
  55. I read somewhere, he could double it if he goes to the MLS, but I would hope thats not what motivates him, and I would suggest it is merely a change of scenery/lifestyle for the family that really motivates him...

    ReplyDelete
  56. More you have more you want. And BR said a while ago that negotiations are in progress and that those negotiations don't involve him(BR). It wasn't about game time with the owners? Not saying that IS the reason, but perhaps it had something to do with it...

    ReplyDelete
  57. I would be hesitant to suggest one way or the other with any conviction, but I don't think Gerrard is that sort of bloke....

    ReplyDelete
  58. If you just used a dash before the ages instead of parentheses, it would save you about 1,000 keystrokes a week...just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ah, I see what you're saying. I thought you meant his wages would be comparatively low.
I'd love to see him in a red shirt and think we should do everything we can to attract him, including a push for Europe, but I think he'd choose other clubs over us if he were to move.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yep at least he scored and he has won it

    ReplyDelete
  61. The money we earned for winning things has long been spent. The attitude of belittling other teams for winning is why we are in the mess we are in. We should be winning too, not harking back to a great and glorious past whilst other clubs are making new history. My son is 18 soon and has never seen us win the Prem - his kids will not care about where we get our money from, only whether we are a top club or if daddy is making them support a team in red that used to be good.
Do you thing FSG are poor? They are billionaires - we too enjoy the backing of uber rich foreign owners or is it different? Every other club bar City, Arsenal Utd, Chelsea and Spurs would love to have the financial backing that we enjoy over most of our competition so what's the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  62. He should be competing with Lallana(26) i wouldn't care if Coutinho(22) is not happy if club had better and top class players competing with one another for their position week in week out. There would be a high level of class, quality set by first team and standard would be kept all through season.

Like the great Liverpool teams in the 80's. from 1-20 there were top lcass players in side/squad and if someone got injured or suspended the player replacing him was as good or better and would make it his lifes work to stay in side that is why we were so dominant in the 80's.

And Man United were the same in 90's, now Chelsea and City dominate now as from 1-20 they have top class players competing for their positions week in week out.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Weren't you constantly championing the signing of Schneiderlin a few months back? What happened to that?
You are not consistent and are a little bit of a fool.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Tony Pulis' first match in charge of WBA and they thrash Gateshead 7-0.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Great player, one of the best. Hopefully Henderson can step up to the plate next season.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Liverpool had 50m worth of strikers on our booksthat Rodgers bought that eh deems not good enough

    Balotelli 16m
    Borini 12m
    Aspas 7m
    Lambert 4m
    Origi 11m

And we are playing a 20 year old winger up front

    just let that digest...............

    ReplyDelete
  67. Origi is on loan so you cannot include him in the 'not good enough' category as yet. Borini is the best option at this point out of all the above mentioned excluding Origi.

    ReplyDelete
  68. just saying how can we give Rodgers more funds when he has wasted it so epically
how can he expect fsg to finance another striker

    ReplyDelete
  69. They are not going to.

    ReplyDelete
  70. good god ! we must alert the elders !

    ReplyDelete
  71. Actually a very good manager but not LFC material. He will do very well at WBA.

    ReplyDelete
  72. what about Koeman ?
everything the guy does and says seems exemplary

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nah, massive difference between managing LFC and Southampton.

    ReplyDelete
  74. he is very good ! but i hate him as much as mourinho.. being fergie's crony and all...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Conte?
The guys achievements at Juventus are only bettered by Guardiola with Barcaloena in last decade

    ReplyDelete
  76. Not Mourinho's biggest fan since his return to England but the guy has winner written on his forehead which is the type of manager we need!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Habit.

But for 6 years our club have not learned from mistakes, we sell our best top players. Keep the dead wood average players we have t club because most clubs do not want them and then we bring in more average dead wood club , whilst our best and top players are ambitious and prised away. Its frustrating to say the least

Its not rocket science at all

You buy a Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche or Rolls Royce you expect top class quality machine.

You buy a Lexus, Mercedes or Range Rover you expect class and quality machine.

You buy a Volkswagon, Vauxhaul Or Ford you expect average but good working machine

You buy a Citroen, Fiat, Renault or Skoda and you expect poor machine but will get you around from A To B

For last 6 seasons most of the players we have been going for have either been dead wood average or players with potential who end up being poor players in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I would be happy with Johan Cruyff as DOF and Frank de Boer as coach. We will attract top players as well as take our academy to the next level.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Why do we need another legend anyway? Can't we just field a strong team and let the legend growth seed itself?

    ReplyDelete
  80. We will never see a player like Gerrard again, that is for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Loyalty wise yes

    passion wise yes
as a symbol of lfc yes

quality no , i think Suarez last year was as good if not better then Gerrard in his prime , Maybe Raheem Sterling can be as good as Gerrad in 2005/06

    ReplyDelete
  82. Will Cryuff work with Da Boer
from what i hear of him he has a massive ego and develops grudges really easily

    ReplyDelete
  83. Gerrard could have cherry picked any club he wanted. If he decided to go to Chelsea years back he would have won trophy after trophy and probably still be playing for them.

The players over the years he had around him at LFC and managers just could not deliver. Gerrard got us out of trouble time after time over the years and still does not have a single EPL trophy to show for it. We will never ever get to see a player like this again. FACT!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Who has a massive ego?

    ReplyDelete
  85. but at 68 how long would he willing to do it- 2 yrs? Personally I don't see it happening and can see FSG sticking with Rodgers which will lead to me going completely bald by next August

    ReplyDelete
  86. FSG will not accept a mid table finish afte making more than £100m available this season. They sacked Kenny after backing him so they will sack Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wish they'd hurry up

    ReplyDelete
  88. Cruyff
he has history with Van Gaal

    ReplyDelete
  89. Wots that got to do with possibility of him working for LFC?

    ReplyDelete
  90. im a fan of hendo for he he epitomizes a lot i like in a footballer hes honest and tries ..all you can ever ask of someone is that they try

    ReplyDelete
  91. Love to know what you're smoking over there fella, " quality wise no " at his prime Steven Gerrard was the best midfielder in world football. Zidane begged Real to sign him to play along side him, they tried twice ........ He said NO !! Gerrard LFC Legend.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sanchez is a top player. Can't keep buying potential hoping one will become a top player. You need to buy one or two proven top players to try compete. Or we will just produce Suarez and Torres and then they will move on because they can't wait for next top players to come out of puberty.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Just saying Suarez last year was up there with him

    ReplyDelete
  94. of cource
    GERRARD IS A LFC LEGEND

    ReplyDelete
  95. I would love to get Pogba but in a weak Serie A the price tag is ridiculous no more than 35 million tops.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Can't argue that gerrard will be classed as a legend, rightly so,but in my opinion he must realise that he is a million miles from the player he was,and cannot hold down a place at lfc,he doesn't want to play against Liverpool, fair enough his influence is only going to dwindle,he is getting mugged off by average players in this country and the same will happen in USA,should just finish season and that's it,sorry but the only reason to go to USA is one thing and that's money, if you have 50 million in bank and want to uproot wife and kids ,leave family,.friends etc for an extra 10 or 15 million that isn't on offer at lfc ,good luck to him ,but don't fall for all the pr from both sides, you would think he was working for citilink the past 17 years the way some are going on ,wonderful player,on a wonderfull multi million pound contract, thanks for memories ,lfc are always bigger, move on.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Agreed. About time we did that, and not just in terms of goalkeepers.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thought the article is about Pogba ????????
Everyone would love to see this happen as Gerrards replacement next 10 years wont happen we need ready made class players . much money wasted already we are bot going forward in the short Future as it stands . We are top 8 club not top 4 also need 4 world class players not projects for future we have no future with what we got we have to sell 80% of what we bought

    ReplyDelete
  99. I can hear it now...

"Klopp must go!!!!! He's signed nothing but unheard of players from Belgium and Portugal who are not good enough for LFC and never will be. He has wasted £100m in two windows. We should never have sacked Rodgers. Stevie G should come in as manager and buy some proper players and get us back to how we were playing in 2013/14. Enough is enough YNWA."

    ReplyDelete
  100. But I've seen midfield trios of:

Lucas, Coutinho and Henderson, or Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, or indeed Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, "compete with all the top sides in the league no problem", even this season.

So why would we need to bring in a bunch of new players who don't know the tactics and have never played for a big club? Seriously, why?

If we had a striker who could score goals we would be 10-15 points better off. Anyone can see that. We don't need a new midfield. We need a striker. Then all these supposed deficiencies in the squad would seem much less important.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Pure fantasy.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Don't like Perin personally, would much rather see a player with Premier League experience come in. Cech or Ruddy, for me.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Second in the league. Second. From seventh one season. To second the next. How has this not sunk in with you people yet? Rodgers pulled off one of the greatest feats of management I've ever seen. In his second season.

He took a club that was in *ruins*, with discipline problems and contract issues everywhere, a squad that was stocked with utter dross, with players that couldn't be moved on, and with its best players looking for the exit, and turned them into title contenders. He saved the careers of old stagers, remade players who had lost their way and their form, and inspired the young players to become serious footballers.

He took players whose careers had looked like stalling amid fear and failure, and turned them into leaders, bristling with confidence. He signed for a relative pittance players who came to be regarded among the brightest in the league.

Before his third season, the club sold his best player and failed to sign his main target. Somehow the club has not fallen apart. They are 7 points of Champions League qualification and remain in the Europa Cup. Let's see where we are in May.

In my opinion, based on what he has achieved, this not only a *good* manager, but in fact a *brilliant* manager, the best manager that this club has had for nearly 25 years. To turn on him after his first run of poor form, is in my opinion utterly spineless and infantile, irresponsible and short-sighted. I am disgusted, though not surprised, by the prevalence of such views among the online LFC community, and hope this negativity doesn't hound from his job a manager of rare gifts.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Happy new year to all! Jamie, do you know the terms of the contract extension that FSG proposed to Steven Gerrard?

    ReplyDelete

  107. I do not think Schneiderlin is the go we need an athletic monster in the midfield someone to break up play and push forward.
I like the idea of Alli but reckon we should look for better than Moussa Sissoko i would look at the next c.m as Gerards replacement.
I really do not believe there is a lot of money in the kitty so this would be summer buys after a lot of selling.

  108. If he had won bucket loads of trophies prior lfc we would have thought fair play
But look this guy could not win coca cola championship with swansea
He achieved nothing last season Luis Suarez achieved everything
    he inspired Gerrard
his competition with Sturridge made both a better player
He helped Sterling on the pitch so much always setting him up
    Maybe you can have Henderson

  109. Greg,

Schneiderlin(25) is a very good DM but a ball playing DM similar to Busquets(26).

M Sissoko(25) Of Newcastle is a very good CM and would be a very good player for us. He can handle his own against the best and would be a very good signing.

    B Rodgers should bring in Schneiderlin(25), M Sissoko(25) and Alli(18) for £40M

To sort out our engine room, centre midfield.

Then in the summer: T Alcantara(23) Of Bayern Munich or I Rakitic(26) Of Barcelona should be brought to the club for £23-£30M To be S Gerrard's (34) successor
