When it rains, it pours. Literally (!) With the rain hammering down at Anfield, Liverpool's performance against Basel is a total washout so far, and with the team deservedly losing 1-0 against Basel, LFC legend Ronnie Whelan as slated his old club's atrocious first-half performance.
After witnessing the Reds' dispiriting firs-half display, during which Basel comfortably dominated the game, Whelan posted the following irritated reaction, which probably sums up what the majority of LFC fans are thinking right now:
* Liverpool are playing four central midfielders, yet Basel seemingly have all the time in the world to find pockets of space, and easily pass the ball through LFC's midfield.
* Overall, passing is just not up to scratch. Too many misplaced passes, with Gerrard and Lambert arguably the biggest culprits so far.
* Sterling aside, there's zero pace in the team, and with Lambert up-front on his own, Basel basically have nothing to worry about.
Rodgers can bring on Markovic and Coutinho, but I don't see how that is going to change anything.
Worrying times, and Brendan Rodgers could conceivably be 45-minutes away from the sack. That said, there's still plenty of time for Liverpool to turn things around. One goal, and the entire momentum of the game can change, and with the deteriorating conditions, anything is possible.

Welcome to hell
ReplyDeleteregardless of the sending off we have been outplayed
ReplyDeleteIs that Lovren on the pitch?
ReplyDeletefeel sorry for marko at least he looked like he was trying
ReplyDeleteAfter 15 minutes he noticed it won't get better and decided to go home from work earlier today
ReplyDeleteThe changes arent working then?
ReplyDeletehaha
ReplyDeletehow is the game so far???
ReplyDeleteHere you get some words: awful, disgrace, pathetic
ReplyDeleteare we that bad
ReplyDeleteWait wait wait Bill.
ReplyDeleteOver the past 2 seasons JK wrote a bunch of statistical anaylsis articles proving Suarez wasn't all that important.
Are you suggestion Suarez was important? Careful that type of thinking will get you banned. :)
Yep
ReplyDeleteGetting better tho, but it's to late ... BR got it all wrong, wrong tactics, bad lineup
ReplyDeleteLet's face it if we can make a team like Basel look like
ReplyDeleteR Madrid we don't deserve to be in the competition and wouldn't have gone any further anyway . Can concentrate on Prem and domestic cups now ...... Looking forward to MU at wkend :-(
steven gerrad hats off
ReplyDeleteBR flapped it hard
ReplyDeleteThat sure has to be it now for Rodgers?
ReplyDeleteWell he shows the intensiteit of Suarez, the stupiditeit of Suarez so now all we need are the goals of Suarez. It would help of course if Rodgers would play him every once in a while
ReplyDeletewhat a negative team selection
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rodgers got what he deserved. Rodgers knew we had to win this game YET STATED WITH LAMBERT UP ON HIS OWN.
ReplyDeleteGot what he deserved I am afraid.
bye bye Rodgers
ReplyDeleteIf Rogers is still manager by tomorrow 13H00, then I really don't know anymore. He wasted that first half with his bullshit management and "tactics", then expected Gerrard to pull a win out of his arse. I DONT want Mr Rogers around for the next transfer window. Please FSG! Let's make some changes!!!
ReplyDeleteBad lineup, looked instantly better with Marko and Moreno on, but the sending off killed us. Not sure if he thought the defender was closer and was trying to push him off or what, not even sure if there was contact, but it was stupid. He was looking good too, new strength without losing pace.
ReplyDeleteBR was an idiot to go into the match with only Rickie as our striker. He's played like 6 90min games in a row, within what, 2 weeks??? Anyone's gonna be tired after that, let alone a 32 year old who hasn't played all year till now. Borini isn't much better, but at LEAST he's fit and fresh. Even name Sinclair to the bench since he made the trip anyway. He might be youth, but its still better than no one.
Anyway, final 10 mins was actually pretty good. Gerrard goal was literally perfect upper 90. Hendo had a good shot stopped, but was looking equally as tired as Rickie. Moreno, Marko/Lallana, Can, and Borini instead of Enrique, Lambert, Hendo, and Allen and this could've been a win. Oh well....
he should be shown door with the immediate effect
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about Liverpool and passing out from the back ... Countless times mignolet passes or throws it to a defender n puts us under so much pressure... In fact it led to their goal...
ReplyDeleteExactly! I can't wait for the headlines (very soon I hope)...
ReplyDelete"Rogers gets the sack!"
I don't want to see Jose Enrique anywhere near Anfield again. And if he Rodgers ever selects him again he should be sacked for serious misconduct. The goal came from the 4th or 5th ball lossed in a row by the man. I mean how is he a professional football player ?
ReplyDeleteYes, lets fire our manager without having a suitable replacement. Brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, BR is slowly destroying everything. But we can't just sack him with no plan. Any manager we might want will probably not be fond of leaving their club in the middle of December. Unless you are okay with letting Pascoe take over for an extended period of time, I'd wait a few weeks until smoke has cleared at other clubs regarding europe.
O lawd, I sure hope so...
ReplyDeleteMan U didn't mess around with Moyes let's see if we do. JH needs to revise how we buy our players, and as I've said before Steve Gerrard is a forward player hope he is not on the bench for Man U
ReplyDeletecheck out his press conference yesterday. He ooohed are rrrrrrr'ed when asked about his approach to todays game and them mumbled something like we have to be patient and tactical.
ReplyDeleteI dont like bring Rafa's name up because he isnt the answer but European teams hate it when you go for the throat from the off and that is exactly what Rafa served up.
They sacked him later in the year though, and had Giggs as a legit interim choice. Gerrard still has years to play, and Pascoe doesn't really fill me with confidence. If we sack BR mid-season, we have to put a replacement in right away, or else things could go even worse than they are....
ReplyDeleteI'm predicting BR will say we gave it our all blah blah blah
ReplyDeleteTell me how exactly you know there are no replacements being/or were lined up already? If you have inside information, please do share... And I'd take anyone besides Mr Rogers to get us out of this friggin embarrassment of a season!
ReplyDeleteWhat would you give for Reina s distribution and Aggers composure right now
ReplyDeleteFunny how we were much better attacking wise with ten men on the pitch than with 11 including Lambert?
ReplyDeleteLambert slows us down completely and is hardly a threat.
I'd take Rafa any day, all day...
ReplyDeleteAnd the thing is FSG have already proved they don't joke. I believe less than 3 points in the next 2 league matches could well and truly be the end for Rodgers. It's a shame though, he's way better than what he's shown us so far this season.
ReplyDeleteOf course we have replacements "lined up," but they won't want to leave their club.
ReplyDeleteHow long do we have to suffer? A manager who picks a team with no pace through the middle, a goalkeeper with no clue how to command the box or play the ball out. A team who's build up play is slower than a 3 wheeled van, we have either a lazy deadbeat up front or a carthorse. Rogers a clown he needs to go with his ' players are brilliant' every week, no their not brilliant they 're slow, clueless and process no fight.
ReplyDeleteshould have played Lallana and Sterling up top tonight. other than the Sturridge and Balo partnership they are the only pair who have looked good notably in the second half against MAdrid. BR doesnt have it between the ears when the heat is on.
ReplyDeleteI thought Markovic looked like the best player on the pitch for the time he was on & unlucky to be sent off
ReplyDeleteFSG won't have a knee jerk reaction but will have been looking at a replacement . Rodgers won't get any more money and will be gone at end of season .
ReplyDeleteHow do you know that? Let's just wait and see what happens without assumptions...
ReplyDeleteShould have rested Lambert on saturday.
ReplyDeleterafa rafa rafa rafa benitez!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMate, Markovic's pace was sublime. When he came on he had players surrounding him to try stop him. That is what we need up top. PACE! Create space for Sterling who can finish and Bob is your uncle.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I admit I'm assuming, but either way, a knee jerk sack will just put the club under more stress...
ReplyDeleteWell its hard to disagree that they didn't give it all, especially in those last 10 mins, but yeah, hardly a valid excuse. BR's tactics and decisions are slowly getting worse. I don't blame the players at all.
ReplyDeleteNot sure it's his fault, this must have been something like his 6th game in 18 days. Hadn't he played on saturday i think he would have been much more effective today.
ReplyDeleteLike it or not BR is a defensive manager who cant set his teams up to defend and his signings prove this. He is slowly morphing into Houllier. where was Borini?? The lad did sooo well against Madrid up top on his own for 60 mins with absolutely no reward. Was he on the bench?
ReplyDeleteAnother point ... Why do we have so little players in the box wherever a cross came in there was no one there to meet it... And yet they go through our midfield like it's a Sunday stroll I'm so angry and frustrated BR has to go the sooner the better ... His tactics are useless . The selection of Enrique and Allen and Lucas we needed to win is beyond ... What's the point of paying so much for lallana and then leave him on the bench ... The selection of Enrique meant that a Sub had to be wasted on replacing him why not start with Moreno ? It is so obvious that last season's heroics were down to sas and not him ....
ReplyDeleteNot going to happen but nothing wrong with keeping your hopes up ;-)
ReplyDeleteKlopp
ReplyDeleteEven with a crap team selection players aren't allowed to play the way they did in the first half, they need to take some of the blame.
ReplyDeleteMarko actually looked good during those what, 10 mins? I'd love to see more if he play's like that consistently. It seems he's bulked up as well. Pace + Power is a deadly combo.
ReplyDeleteBR is not a defensive manager in any sense of the word.
ReplyDeletePositives:
ReplyDelete* Markovic looked a top player when he came on, bulkier
* Sterling got his chance up front team looked more threatening and fluid
*Lovren had a decent performance
* Europa league we are still in and if we win that with Bony we can get a cl spot
LFC is far to big for Lambert. Useful plan B but unfortunately not good enough to start.
ReplyDeleteBR is such a poor liar. Some managers like Mourinho are poker faced. BR shuffles, scratches, touches his ear and is incredibly shifty with the old eyes every time a fib falls from his lips. Read him like a book
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you mate. Apart from Markovic's lack of judgement, he showed real promise as well...
ReplyDeleteFSG will say to Rodgers get us top 4 and keep your job- then we get top 4 and they sack him
ReplyDeleteNo it does not
ReplyDeleteRodgers is slowly learning his way and recovering from mental illness
The point still stands... Even if Lambert was good enough for starting, 6 in 18 is brutal, even if we had someone like Suarez...
ReplyDeleteBecause of the team he chose to start tonight B R MUST GO
ReplyDeleteIt's a very fair assumption mate. It's what anyone with half a brain would think.
ReplyDeletehave you seen his press conferences when we lose :D
ReplyDeleteFsg are smart people they will not sack rodgers
ReplyDeleteI can assure you they have been hard at work for weeks looking for a replacement.
ReplyDeleteI think he is learning slowly what we all saw ages ago let him continue
ReplyDeleteunbeaten in 5 games as well
All flags at half-mast please...... It's a dark day. Waited 5 yrs for this...:(
ReplyDeleteWe ahve not lost 5 games in a row that seems to be forgoton on all of you
ReplyDeleteI hope what you saying is true.... But how do you know that ?
ReplyDeleteThere was a period when the camera went to Rogers after Markovic was sent off... The dread on his face was priceless. He was probably thinking: "Dammit, I'm well and truly f$&ked now..."
ReplyDeleteI logged on just as MArkovic was walking up the tunnel
ReplyDeleteshould never have bought him but YES that too
ReplyDeleteI think BR is trying to be sacked to get the dream job he craves in Spain - best if he goes very soon now - he has lost the KOP 1000 PER CENT = I thought the atmosphere in the ground was poor from start to finish - they are sick of his lone striker crap - in truth without Suarez B R has not got a clue - ACT NOW JOHN HENRY
ReplyDeleteLoved that display from Markovic before he gotr sent off
ReplyDeletelooked liek a bale for a moment
I want more Markovic
Rodgesr better play him ,Lallana and Can more
I understand we're all angry and feel more than a little let down, but let's take a moment to reflect on the positive:
ReplyDeleteAt least now we can focus on being absolute shit in 3 competitions instead of 4.
Agreed. I was furious when he brought on Gerrard against Sunderland as it showed up a total lack of ideas. The team we started with also did. Especially as we needed a win. Markovic looked good before he was daft. We needed that pace earlier. He has to start against United.
ReplyDeleteeuropa league son
ReplyDeletewho's up for a good old fashioned 4-4-2 designed to fit our 4-4-2 squad? Sturridge will struggle to..... almost guaranteed. This team has no spark whatsover FLAT as a pancake.
ReplyDeleteMarkpovic what a player
ReplyDeletewe saw his talent should not ahve been sent offf thpough
Pace power
More markovic
Agree with everything.
ReplyDelete* Marko actually impressed and was unlucky with the card. Pace + Power is deadly. If the bulk is real and he's consistent, I think he can be great.
* Sterling looked good, improved fluidity and incisiveness. Problem is he doesn't have enough presence to lead the line alone.
* Lovren was decent, not as solid as I would like, but better than he's been. Let's hope he'll build on this.
* Just because Europa is a "cheap knock-off" of the Champs league doesn't mean we shouldn't try. We win Europa, we're back in CL regardless of our table finish.
Oh yeah. Scratch that...there are no positives. Off to bend the elbow.
ReplyDeleteThe team B Rodgers picked tonight alone should get him the sack.
ReplyDeleteA game we need to win he plays three centre midfielders who lack class, creativity and goals in the final third. ( Allen(24), Henderson(24) and Lucas(27))
We needed win NOT A Draw, J Allen(24)and J Henderson's(24)
mobility, pressing game, passing side ways and backwards does absolutely nothing for us against good sides and good players. They look so poor against good teams it's unreal
How he chased A Lallana(26) all summer, spent £25M on him yet left him on the bench when he has more class, creativity and goals in his left toe than J Allen(24), J Henderson(24) and L Leiva(27) have in their whole bodies is amazing.
B Rodgers needs to be shown his P45 as soon as possible, as he is looking more clueless as we go on and the excuses are becoming worse.
How do you start Allen(24) and Henderson(24) at Home instead of Coutinho(22) and Lallana(26) when we need goals and a win?
Good mobility, pressing, passing backwards and sideways does not win you games? Creating and scoring goals win games
if we win we get cl
ReplyDeletewe start in febuary i imagine bony will be a playuer #
maybe stuzza will be fit as well
I understand that mate, but I do not want him around for the next transfer window. That's so much more stressful to even phathom...
ReplyDeleteBR won't make it through December, i promise you
ReplyDeleteLambert wasn't slowing us down he hardly had the ball. Having a lack of diverse options is slowing us down. We need a man offering and a man on his bike. Mistook the team is too static and far too happy to knock it back to defence. There is a lack of courage, speed and guile but we do have those options. Markovic deserves a go.
ReplyDeleteThe writing was on the wall with the dreaded vote of Confidence a while back.
ReplyDeleteI cannot see FSG sacking him without having a replacement but you never know and it might sound daft, with Dalglish in the background FSG could turn to him as a short term solution until the replacement arrives.
LFC should have started the match with the second half team selection , plus Marko looked sharp finally in the few minutes that I saw him before his cat clawed attack. Want to see him in the Man U game against their weak defense. Really painful game tonight.. Goodnight.
ReplyDeleteCan skrtel be a striker two best chances
ReplyDeletetaht shot
btw im jokin
ReplyDeleteI think he expected the player to be closer to him and wanted to use his body lime Sterling does.
ReplyDeleteBest comment of the thread!
ReplyDeleteMarkovic like Bale. Stop it!
ReplyDeleteYeah the dreaded vote of confidence .... What you guys make of the rumours relating to AVB ... I personally want an experienced manager with pulling power ... I wonder if ottamar hitzfeld is available?
ReplyDeleteThe sooner we change the management setup the better or we could be facing relegation!
ReplyDeleteIf he does survive the chop to next year I think he will be a better manager for it. We showed a bit more gnarliness recently which shows he is learning. But not in enough ways.
ReplyDeleteThe usual guff from Brendan.after about 20 seconds hearing him I tend to glaze over and go in to a trance ,would love to know what games he has been watching recently, improvement ? Tempo? .its obvious that us mugs can't see what he does, after 5 minutes you could see what was going to happen ,as for sending off ,another day only a booking, only positive tonite was markovic, just give him a run ,let's see.wonder what fsg have made of this, will this constant decline in status be allowed to continue?
ReplyDeleteI think so too...the Commentators here in the States were acting like Marko swung his arm out to slap the defender (silly 'muricans). It seemed more like he wanted to push off like we see speedy players do all so often, but he had already lost the defender... Unlucky. Honestly, not even sure if there was any legit contact. Maybe fingernails?
ReplyDeletehe is teh new alan pardew and sma allerdyce
ReplyDeletelook at how well tehy are doing
west ahm lost 6-0 to nottingham forest now their third
At the start of the night ITV commentary said something along the lines of "who will write themselves into anfield folklore tonight?". Qualifying for the knockout stage of a cup competition will not write anyone into the folklore of this club. Have we suddenly become Arsenal? Second is nowhere, 16th?
ReplyDeleteStop overreacting liverpool are on cource to get midtable
ReplyDeleteif we sign bony in january we might get top 7
He could've at least blamed the ball boy
ReplyDeleteWhere was Can AGAIN? Mind blowing incompetence tonight.
ReplyDeleteDecline in status?
ReplyDeleteLook eventhough we underperformed in cl
it is really hard to suddenly after 5 years reassert your authority
look at city
rafa would leave napoli in the morning if asked, and wed be playing champs league football next year if that was the case
ReplyDeleteHe is on Rodgers naughty list.
ReplyDeleteIts not unlucky, its infinitely stupid. But if he scores 30 this season Ill gladly forgive him
ReplyDeleteBrendan Rodgers is David Brent
ReplyDeleteCode knows why
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152865849829914&set=vb.108803784913&type=3&theater
ReplyDeleteLets hear from the LFC Chairman - WE NEVER EVER HEAR FROM HIM
ReplyDeleteI want to play him at poker.
ReplyDeleteIn the Euopa lad. There is plenty of sheite to go around.
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.paddypower.com/2014/11/23/childish-yes-silly-yes-heres-brendan-rodgers-doing-the-david-brent-dance/
ReplyDeleteA defensive manager? Whatever else he is, he certainly isn't defensive
ReplyDeleteNot sure what your argument was meant to be but you convinced me he should go if he is like them.
ReplyDeleteAny true fan who thought we could take the game to a side doing well in the Champions league and win with the likes of J Allen(24), J Henderson(24), L Leiva(27) and R Lambert(32) in starting line up?
ReplyDeleteAnd our class creative players on bench must be high? How we needed win and both Coutinho(22) and Lallana(26) both started on the bench is shocking?
As in first half only Sterling(20) and Gerrard(34) offered any threat. So 6 losses in the league and 3 losses in Champions league, Out of Champions league all before christmas.
And B Rodgers thinks he should still be at the Helm, thats comical, FSG should try and bring either F Rijkaard or J Klopp to club as soon as possible.
And give the new manager at least £60M to spend in January if the club is to have any chance of making top 4 this season.
You're losing it dude
ReplyDeleteMy point is fsg want a complete viable package, last season we had one of the best players in world,we were signing record commercial deals, everybody wanted to watch us,the ground development was in pipeline,a feel good factor, pointless going over what has been spent and on who, what's done is done,I just think we have gone back a couple of seasons or so,whoever is in charge doesn't matter really ,this team needs quality put in to it ASAP.question is will fsg give Brendan the cash,Rogers is showing the form of a man who is going to lose his job
ReplyDeleteFor all the debate going on let's not forget basl were terrific, players from supposed inferior league had us chasing shadows most of night ,
ReplyDeleteTime for a drink first
ReplyDeleteOur route back into the champions league was never going to be through winning it. I think BR will feel more at home now with only fighting for the league and FA cup. In The league cup and Europa he can just stick the reserves out.... not rotate...... stick the reserves out because that is how he treats his squad.
ReplyDeleteMoyes did better than this shit
ReplyDeleteI'm gona have to stop you there :D
ReplyDeleteBut truth cannot change. He atleast took a certain team to quaterfinals
ReplyDeleteI was joking... I actually agree.
ReplyDeleteIf any of us perform at their work same as LFC do this season, we would be fired in the morning. I still don't understand why BR is at the club and what is he trying to achieve.
ReplyDeleteSo we really were Suarez FC.
ReplyDeletebut he isnt dogmatic in his approach *raises eyebrow
ReplyDeleteI am worried how will we survive this sunday. LvGs army is pumped up and will thrash us if we play shit.Ohh I am worried.
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL
ReplyDeleteOne of my Arsenal mate said Liverpool were Fluke FC last season. It is irritating.
ReplyDeleteThe same way that Madrid are Ronaldo fc and barca are messi
ReplyDeleteI wish he wasn't but his actions state otherwise. Making the same mistakes over and over again is not a progress. I know his intentions are not bad of course but that is not what matters.
ReplyDeletewe didnt lose today. We are reasonable defensively now with Lucas and Toure. We do however need a manager who will get us playing like Man Utd under Fergie. 4-4-2 with two incredible wingers a good defensive mid and allround playmaker with a number 9 and a great number 10 who drops deep instead off starting deep.
ReplyDeleteBut barca or Madrid or Bayern or MU wont perform this shit.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a dream mate. I still envy their 2006-2009 side. Even this season with all the injuries they are pulling their socks up and winning games. They were shit against SOuthampton but still got 3 points. Rodgers better be vary of the threat otherwise that could turn out to be his last game
ReplyDeleteand Argentina were Maradona FC. The problem we have is we didnt even attempt to find a like for like replacement. We went in a completely different direction.
ReplyDeleteAre there Unicorns where you live??
ReplyDeletesorry if i sound stupid but does the europa league winner automatically qualify for the CL? if so when did this start happening?
ReplyDeleteFSG preferably wanted to wait until the end of the season before sacking HODGSON! I believe Rodgers is safe until fourth is mathematically impossible
ReplyDeleteThe most worrying part is the best player today was a 34 year old midfielder. Sterling is really talented but he needs to do more. He disappears as the game goes by.
ReplyDeleteHave you been reading recently? He lost it a while ago.
ReplyDeleteI was quoting Rodgers. I on the the other hand, like you, believe the opposite to be the truth.
ReplyDeleteyeah its good ennit :D
ReplyDeleteWhere have you been for years. We would be lu jy to be arsenal.
ReplyDeleteI dont think we were a fluke, I think we had the best player in the world imo.
ReplyDeleteHah :) I got it and remember it now. Well very unfortunate, last season Rodgers was the new Shankly and tonight he probably managed his last game for us.
ReplyDeleteI don't think many refs would have given a red for that flick...especially in the EPL
ReplyDeleteMost fans seemed to have written Markovic off a few weeks ago but he has shown glimpses of real natural ability...I expect him to come good
Thats a new one. It's the wit that keeps me coming back to these sites.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Whelan was talking about something else.
ReplyDeleteMeet you fuckers in europa and hope to knock your toothless team from there also. :D
ReplyDeleteWe can get champo from winning Europa this year.
ReplyDeleteYes and this year is first.
ReplyDeletecan we? when did this happen? :) I dont think we're good enough tho win that TBH
ReplyDeleteThis year I'd first year for it.
ReplyDeletewell its another avenue that we desperately need. Here's hoping
ReplyDeleteIt's also what someone with a full brain might think...
ReplyDeleteI am hoping but not hopeful if that makes sense. Rodgers isn't much of a cup manager. He doesn't delegate enough so he doesn't have time to do all he needs to do.
ReplyDeleteThat's beside the point. The rules say hitting at someone is red. You dont have to make contact. It was unnecessary anyway, he was past him. Like I said he's shown intensity like Suarez but at the end of the day its about the end product.
ReplyDeleteExactly,so let Rogers explain this transfer committee to us ,he always stated that he had final say on buys,on this alone he should be gone.if we have it wrong then someone come out and explain what the policy is ,if he is being restricted or given players then fans would back him 100%.if these are his buys then he can't survive, these players don't perform badly out of choice but something is not quite right ,balance of squad ,constant changing of fullbacks, the alarming form of keeper goes on and on,no cover for Sturridge etc,we can all see failings so how easy is it for opponents
ReplyDeleteAs of August 29, 2014 :D I had to look it up myself when NeverGonnaCrackTheCode stated it, but UEFA made the change this year :D
ReplyDeletehttp://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2137611.html
Wasn't a fluke mate..we had good movement in the final 1/3 and we pressed teams like into mistakes. (last year)
ReplyDeleteThis year teams don't even have to press us too make mistakes... we have what are know as 'broken condoms' in Migs, skrtel and Lovern.
Have to agree mate, I'm not one for calling for the manager to be sacked but for such an important must win game BR's team selection and tactics was just bizarre. Where was Coutinho or Lallana? Why two holding midfielders? Where was Borini and Toure? I'm so disappointed in Rodgers, it feels like we've been sabotaged from within. It's hard to believe we have the same manager from last seasons team which was so attacking and fluid to this seasons shambles, which is so slow and utterly clueless. After spending a fortune in the summer we went into this massive game with one recognised striker. Why?Finally what has Emre Can done? After being our best player against Chelsea and scoring, he's barely played, BR instead choosing to play Allen instead, I don't mind Allen but he seems so lightweight to me. Brendan what have you done? Talk about from hero to zero.
ReplyDeleteFluke a whole season? May until Xmas but not the whole season. No Europe & the best strike force explains last season.
ReplyDeletewe've still won more trophies than arsenal even though we've been shit for years. its about winning titles and trophies, you get nothing for fourth place or last 16. this target of 4th is absolute bullshit and has no place in this club. what you gonna sing on the terraces? qualified for CL 15 years in a row? we played really well last year, it means nothing we won nothing.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably how his team talk goes!
ReplyDeleteWhen were you born? The glory days were before my Day really and all I have known is a Liverpool side who don't win the league. I have seen us win everything else but you know what after the last half decade I would have taken fourth a few years running no questions. That is just realism.
ReplyDeletewill he walk or will he be pushed
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think there should have been a red UNLESS they got into a conflict before the red. But to me, it doesn't look like Markovic did it on purpose at all. I think he was checking to see if the player was behind him. I do think the way he did it was stupid, but there was nothing diabolical about it.
ReplyDeleteIf Markovic played upfront with lambert I truly think we would have won. Making that switch for sterling lone striker was confusing, the kid really can't shoot to save his life.
ReplyDeleteHe just got back from his injury, it's BR's fault for starting him in a must win.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you put the ages of the players every time? Henderson has a few goals this season, in fact I bet he's not far off being our top scorer.
ReplyDeletehis own managerial career maybe......... Southend I think it was and...... no thats it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it isn't going to get easy to pick up a class striker now.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't easy, but you wouldn't mind seeing us try.
ReplyDeleteSuarez isn't the best player in the world. He's not even the best player at Barca. He's probably not even the second best player at Barca at the moment.
ReplyDeleteDavid Brent was a very popular character.
ReplyDeleteBrendan Rodgers...less so.
i'll be the first to admit he hasnt been good enough, the stats dont lie.
ReplyDeleteBut i agree, he should have had more game time this season, especially since DS and MB got injured.
He would atleast give us a more pacey option in the box and he runs all game.
cool thanks, let hope for a good run in that comp then
ReplyDeleteI support Rodgers and want to continue to support Rodgers, but how many times has he clearly picked the wrong team to the detriment of the club? You'd think we were playing a historical best World XI with that starting line up. On top of that, with all the defensive players there, we couldn't even keep the ball.
ReplyDeleteEnrique off was the wrong decision because he did nothing wrong and that sub could have been used in midfield or attacking third. Both Lucas and Allen shouldn't have been there, we need only one. Lambert is dreadful and spends half his time offside, it's like playing with 10 men. Henderson on the wing I'll never understand.
Sterling or Borini as striker next game and Markovic to start. SOS Cavani, let's break the bank or something. Rodgers always picked the most attacking line up possible last season but this season he has picked the most defensive possible.
Touche
ReplyDeleteThe whole Mangement need the sack the money they got for Suarez a complete waste . I only hope the time is shorter than what Moyes got at Man U and I hope our top scorer is played in a forward position and not on the bench at Old Trafford !
ReplyDeleteGetting a top player is like a divorce ! It's expensive but worth it
ReplyDeleteLambert is worse than what Andy Carroll was for us. No spacial awareness.
ReplyDeleteBR has suddenly become an idiot. I am/was a staunch supporter of his but he has totally lost it. Shocking team selections all season long and he's not learning. Unbelievable how his management has deteriorated in a matter of months.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember Rafa's last 2 seasons with us? Rubbish manager if you ask me. He's gone for good, so get over him.
ReplyDeleteHe should have started with Moreno and Can no Enrique or Allen i thought and anyone down back but Lovren although he was ok.
ReplyDeleteHe will only get better he looked a bit lost early on.
ReplyDeleteSome of the most boring football I've ever seen in my life were under Rafa. He's defying logic now at Napoli.
ReplyDeleteBy "write themselves into folklore" I think they were referring to the similarities of Olympiakos...
ReplyDeleteDo you remember at the yanks forcing him to sell his best players? We lose the league cause we end up playing with N'Gog and El Zahar!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen we went down to ten men and Lucas was subbed for Coutinho we showed signs of last season so for me there have been too many excuses that because SAS no longer being in action or Sturridge the reason for us struggling is a load of BS. We played our most attacking football of the season since the Spurs match in the last 15 minutes last night.
ReplyDeleteI have been repeating myself for many weeks now. Play Sterling at no 10 with Borini and Markovic up top or Borini and Sterling up top etc. We are in no shape or form going to cause problems with Lambert or Balotelli up on their own but Rodgers persists with one up top.
We have a very good squad of players but as usual Rodgers wants to play his boring possession based football, stick with players who should not be playing and what do you get? Too full of himself and cannot see the wood for the trees. Taxi.
They weren't forcing him to sell Alonso for Barry.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't look a top player, he looked decent. Clutching at straws mate.
ReplyDeleteShut up man. Utter rubbish
