Academy duo Jerome Sinclair and Sheyi Ojo are reportedly in with a real chance of making Liverpool's match-day squad for this evenings crunch Champions League game with Basel.
According to The Telegraph today:
"Rodgers has called up 18-year-old Jerome Sinclair and 17-year-old Sheyi Ojo, both of whom are vying for a place on the bench [against Basel]".
Both Ojo and Sinclair have trained with the first team over the last week, which suggests that they are (tentatively) in Rodgers plans.
The official LFC website describes both players as follows:
"[Ojo] is a pacey winger who can play on the left or right flank, he can be a nightmare for opposing defenders to play against".
"Jerome Sinclair is a forward who...now features for both the U18s and U21s at the Academy, showing his prolific ability at either level".
Given the importance of the game, though, it'll be a major surprise if either Ojo or Sinclair make the bench. It's more likely that Rodgers is giving them then experience of being involved in the build up to a massive European game, which - in and of itself - is a valuable development experience.
That said, Rodgers scrapped €18m-rated misfit Fabio Borini from the match-day squad for the weekend draw with Sunderland, so if he ignores the Italian again, there will be a vacancy on the bench for a striker, and Sinclair could come into contention...

..................................................Mignolet
expected line up
i wanna see can in the starting line up
ReplyDeletealso i feel this is THE night we turn this season around
3-1 lfc sterling 2 lambert
COME on u REDS
I really hope the nightmare is on them, not us
ReplyDeleteanother "turn the season around" game....we've had that many I'm dizzy...never the less I wish I could be there tonight...COME ON THE REDS....YNWA.
ReplyDeleteHaven't posted in ages, seems we haven't play well since I last posted. I'm clutching at straws for a win, hope I change the tide with this post.
ReplyDeleteThink Sinclair deserves a spot on the bench, his movement and pace alone should help the fluidity of our attack. Since our current forwards BAR Raheem can't move/stretch opposition defenders around pitch. If the space increases Lallana/Coutinho looks more effective, the amount of times Coutinho has played a slide rule to Lambert (only for him to lack the pace to get on to it).
Borini for all his energetic running has no build up play or end product, so should be shipped out ASAP. Balotelli deserve a crack at the whip at LFC with Studge before everyone says we should sell him. Who knows some players just click?
i know we have had many "most critical 5 and 3 games " many times too
ReplyDeletei feel that buzz though
YNWA
It would be great if they had the impact we all hope they would have.
ReplyDeletebut with the team slightly underperforming and seasoned veterans of euro and world cups finding the cauldron that is anfield tough going, isnt Brendan at risk of scaring the shit out of these poor kids?
If they are relied upon to help get a result that is; not if we are winning 5-0 and they come on to experience the night.
Man, did anyone see Atletico Madrid against Elche this weekend? Arda Turan and Koke are so good. Talk about incisive, unselfish and innovative passing and movement.
ReplyDeleteWish Brendan Rodgers can somehow convince FSG to break the bank for those two maestros. Our strikers would look like the SAS again and Coutinho would finally have teammates on his wavelength and not try to do everything himself.
Both played in youth team in 3-0 victory over Basel so won't be playing tonight
ReplyDeleteBodes well, though, as the seniors won't want to be taking stick from the kids tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteA shower and a change of kit and they'll be fine
ReplyDeleteHahaaaa
ReplyDeleteSOMEONE AGREES WITH ME THAT PACO ALCACER IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
ReplyDeleteAre you crazy? Lacazette is going to cost on the upwards of 40m+ guaranteed assuming age and form, we simply don't have that kind of money.
ReplyDeleteThe stupidity of some of these headlines is hilarious sometimes.. the sheer amount of hyperbole is staggering...everything is so over the top... "MEGA".."WARRIOR" .."better than messi"....
