On Wednesday evening, Liverpool face Ludogorets in a must-win Champions League game, and after a pitiful five defeats in seven games, it's imperative that the Reds get back to winning ways with a morale-boosting win. LFC boss Brendan Rodgers made several drastic changes for the club's previous group game against Real Madrid, and if today's training pictures are anything to go by, Rodgers may be considering a couple of surprise inclusions for tomorrow's game.
As the following photos show, two of the club's young players trained alongside the first-team today; the question is, who are they?
The guy in the first photo looks like Jordan Williams, but I can't quite place the second shaven-headed player. Any ideas?
The inclusion of Williams comes as no surprise; he and Jordan Rossiter have trained regularly with the first team this season, and I'm sure Rodgers will have taken note of under-21 coach Michael Beale's comments last week, when he lavished praise on Williams. He raved:
"Jordan Williams has come out of nowhere. A few of the ex-players deemed as legends have mentioned Jordan as well. His mentality is fantastic. He asks me how he can get better. He’s a fantastic boy and he deserves all the best.”
With so much at stake, it'll be a major shock if Rodgers includes any untested young players in the Ludogorets starting line-up, but after five defeats in seven games, something needs to change, and an injection of new blood might be just what the team needs.

Is the shaven head guy Lloyd Jones? Not completely sure though.
ReplyDeleteJohnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Gerrard first choice. Oh happy days!
ReplyDeleteYou jest?
ReplyDeleteWe should be so lucky to see these four players kept away from the starting eleven. Rodgers is adamant to prove us all wrong though. How many more matches Rodgers?
ReplyDeleteBR said today, he will not be signing new players in January, so the transfer rumour mill may be just that, a rumour mill, thank god.
ReplyDeleteAnd his comments could also mean that BR won't be here to sign anyone...
ReplyDeleteIts a bad sing really. IWhenever a struggling manager isnt given money to buy in Winter, it means owners have doubts about him and buying time to see if he gets thing s right by end of season, If he cant , he might be gone. They dont trust him with more cash. Would keep cash for new manager. FAct
ReplyDeleteBR said
ReplyDelete“I've shown in my time here as manager that I don't deal in sentiment. There is nothing sentimental about me picking Steven. “I judge him on what I see on the training field.
BR it is time to start judging players by what you see on the PITCH. CRAP I'm a good trainer. Steve Mcmanaman was always described by his team mates as a terrible trainer but look what he produced on the pitch. I take it the side we put out against Real Madrid are absolute toilet paper in training...........
B R wont be signing new players in January cause J H wont let him have a penny - would you ??? Stevie G plays 10 yards behind the strikers OR he does not play at all -his position - not him - is the biggest problem we got - B R Learn from mistakes or GO
ReplyDeleteI also remember he categorically ruled out signing Balotelli
ReplyDeleteYes, but today he did'nt mention the word categorically.
ReplyDeleteThe other person is Lloyd Jones and the only reason that Jordan Williams had not progressed faster is he had a long term injury last season. Both better than the current XI.
ReplyDeleteGrobelaar- 'Simon Mignolet is the reason for our poor defence. He is a keeper who leaks in 50 goals. We need a keeper who leaks 30 max. He doesn't organise the defence, and never comes out from his goal mouth; Dracula comes out more from his coffin'.
ReplyDeleteWhat do we all think?
yes but its not to say we are buying players as we can work on our targets secretly and they will know we dont have a massive budget
ReplyDeleteTo be fair though Dracula is not that keen on crosses either ....
ReplyDeleteI think it is Borini..
ReplyDeleteThat's your best one yet.
ReplyDeletefacepalm.....that was good
ReplyDeleteLove it
ReplyDeleteIt is defo Lloyd jones
ReplyDeleteNailed it!
ReplyDeleteSergi Canos.
ReplyDeleteStuart gave great answer below, but also- it can't be Simon's fault when Lovren bumps into Skrtel, Or when Skrtel is facing ONE attacker 20 yards from the goal and makes a faul in ariel duel. Attacker who is twice smaller than him. Or when Lovren is in charge of their wide attacker and make a fool out of himself. And so on, and so forth..
ReplyDeletePlease let it be. Kolo and Lloyd Jones for CB against Ludogorets.
ReplyDeleteI remember over years certain players lacked confidence wether it be returning from injury or games without goal, but struggling to recall an entire squad suffering, hasn't it been rammed home over the years that gerrard got the team by scruff of neck and lifted everyone,if the team has no core of a leader is it any wonder the games are passing by and players are in a state of panic, isn't that why we appoint a captain? .if it's true and we won't be buying in jan ,fair enough ,that mean Rogers goes in May,lambert ,borini, ballotelli ,and a now and again Sturridge are not good enough to get us in to top 10. Fsg are and have put up the cash for Rogers and stadium etc.look at it from their point of view ,just how much more money do think needs to be thrown at Rogers ? Keeper 7-10 million depending on who you go for, mignolet is averaging more goals conceded than games played, that cannot continue long term.as for cb,make do just find the right pair, play manquillo and loveren no matter what.as for mid .gerrard replacement ,cost anywhere between 20-35 million .and two forwards at least ,one premium at 25-35 million and one other .lets have next season ,Sturridge and one other as first choice ,then origi and other as cover, that's about 100 million again for Rogers .he has no chance ,and if he got it fsg would be fools, isn't it easy online just rattling off soloutions,I think the majority on here can identify problems ,the debate is what are the answers
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Lloyd Jones? Has he already been overtaken by this guy Williams then? And what about Ilori? How is he doing on loan? Shouldn't do any harm bringing him back in Jan.
ReplyDelete200 million wasted in 3 years. Would you not have doubts if it was your money?
ReplyDeleteDifferent positions. Williams plays centre midfield.
ReplyDeleteIt's like the monky and the typewriter. Eventually he will write a book - it just you have to put up with a lot of rubbish first before he nails it.
ReplyDeleteAh sorry. Thought I read he was a CB
ReplyDeleteI think he may play a bit at CB but he mainly plays in centre midfield. He came on in CM for Rossiter in a round of the Carling Cup. He looked pretty good, confident also, he took a penalty.
