Video: Superb Suso goal; Ibe's 2 assists; Lambert on 'special' debut; BR's Can update

With two excellent assists, Liverpool starlet Jordon Ibe delivered another impressive pre-season performance today as the Reds secured a 2-1 victory against Preston North End.

The Reds were 1-0 down at half-time, but goals from Suso and Kristoffer Peterson - scoring his second goal in two games - ensured that Liverpool got the victory.

Emre Can went off injured after 20 minutes of the first half, and Rickie Lambert also made his debut for the club.

In his post-match interview, Lambert admitted that he had 'nerves' ahead of his debut, but clearly enjoyed his first game for the club. He told reporters:

"I enjoyed it, and got a good run out. I had to keep my emotions in check. Putting on the top for the first time was special. It was brilliant. It's about fitness at the minute. Emre's got a little knock, but we're hoping it's nothing too bad"

Brendan Rodgers also provided the following update on Emre Can:

"It was just precautionary. He [Can] just felt a tightness in his calf - he hasn't pulled it. At this point, there's no point in risking anything"

  1. Two very important players Ibe and Suso. Should we loan out or keep. I would keep them both, specially Suso, one year of laon is enough..

  2. Kids did well, but yet again, our defending was abysmal, particularly on crosses (been there ...). So forget offensive players, we need upgrades across the back 4, in goal, and in the holding midfield role; where an aggressive ball winner, is a must.

  4. Ibe great last touch and Suso very composed to hold and find a better angle with that curling beauty.

  5. Just read on the BBC page that we have agreed on 8.5M for Remy and that Wisdom is being loaned to WBA for the season.

  6. Suso can play a very important role in our season and can maybe unlock parked buses off the bench. Ibe has enormous potential and could breakout this season.

  7. That's a stretch, but I'll enjoy the friendly competition between the two.

  8. Wow, so Jordan Ibe will be the next up-and-coming youngster for LFC? He's a year younger than Sterling. Hope he gets some playing time this season but he will more likely go on-loan this season. This kind of prospect from the academy sounds really encouraging. Will Suso stay at LFC this season? Would be good to see him in action but we are already having an over-crowded midfield. There is another youngster at the club in Samed Yesil. Don't know if he has a chance to prove himself after recovering from 2 scary torn ACL injuries.
