'LFC is a great team': After BR contact, £10m star happy to sign for Liverpool. Pursue?

Last week, Spanish newspaper Marca claimed that Liverpool recently enquired about QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia, who is currently on loan at Sevilla. Mbia is having a great season for the La Liga club, but when asked about his future this week, he made it clear that a move to Anfield is very much in his thoughts.

When asked about the LFC speculation, £10m-rated Mbia admitted that playing in Champions League is his 'goal', and revealed that he'd love to play for Liverpool. He told Estadio Deportivo:

"Liverpool? For me, it is a pride. Liverpool is a great team that will play the Champions League, but I can not say what will happen in the future."

Mbia's loan spell at Sevilla ends in the summer, and it seems unlikely he'll want to stay at QPR. Steven Gerrard is now LFC's main holding midfielder, but with the Reds competing in four competitions next season, another dedicated defensive mid is (arguably) required, especially with Lucas increasingly prone.

Last week, Mbia scored Sevilla's winner in the Europa League semi-final, a goal his manager, Unai Emery described as 'unique' and 'like Iniesta'. Winning the trophy will cap a productive year for the midfielder, who has contributed 9 goals/assists overall, which is pretty good for a defensive-minded midfielder.

Worth a bid in the summer? If LFC are going to sign someone from Sevilla, I'd personally prefer Ivan Rakitic.

  6. The three Centre Midfielders B Rodgers should bring to club this summer are:

    1: DM: Y M'Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan for £8-£10m

    2: CM: I Rakitic(25) Of Seville for £15-£18M

    3: AM: A Lallana(25) Of Southampton or I Munian(21) Of A Bilbao for £15-£21M

Those are the three centre midfielders needed to be brought in to compete with J Allen, P Coutinho, S Gerrard and J Henderson.

As this summer L Leiva(27) should be sold to Napoli for £7-£9M as R Benitez wants him there. And L Leiva(27) does not suit B Rodgers style of play, he is not mobile, very slow and laboured. So he should be sold this summer

  7. looks like we will be bidding for Lallana (20 mil) ..then maybe Richards. So these were the signing we were hoping to lure by playing ucl. Goodluck top 4 next season...liverpool is still striving on 2 transfers done 3 transfer-window back(Sturridge and Coutinho). We already wasted 40 mil last year and this another 60 million will go down the drain..RIP Liverpool:(

    NOOOooo!,

    Please not him.

We need players like Kovacic, and if we do get a DM Lucas has to go. Yan M'Vila is the man we need

  9. Lallana is a great player

  10. No, he's English so he must have poor technique and be overrated. Whereas all Croatian, Korean, Portugese, and Turkish players are masters of total football and must be acquired at any cost, especially if their agent says it's their dream to play in the Premier League.

  11. Chelsea guy would certainly know shit when he sees it you just have to look around the stands at your club and see all the shit sitting with you

Maybe last year, when we were pushing for CL and not in a position really to attract the worlds best. But now we can offer that stage so we have to be setting our sights a bit higher. No disrespect to Mbia, he's a solid player, but he's not a stand out performer and we have enough squad players at the club. We need 3 or 4 world class additions to really push on.

Agree Lallana is quality, any team would kill to have him....
There might be a point there about Richards though?

    Please. RIP Liverpool?
The best season we've seen in a decade?
    Regaining Champions League Football?
Going down to a team that has spent hundreds of millions on players?
Losing out on the league by a single drawn game?
Going from 7th to 2nd in one season?
Putting together one of the most potent strike forces in the world?
Playing the most attractive football in the Premier League?

Re-inventing one of the best midfielders the club has ever seen?
Pushing forward with plans to develope the stadium?
All this done in a financial responsible manner to ensure we are still here in 20 years time?

    Long live LFC.
The good times are back again.

  15. Love Rakitic, like Lallana, but we don't need M'vila

  16. For me the thing about buying african players is that they become unavailable during winter every 2 years. we don't have luxury of large squad to accomodate this.

  17. That was at QPR though, every player went there for the money...

  18. Yes they Liverpool are playing extremely good( so good that even 4 goal rout doesnt feel like much, coz we score 3-4 almost every match). But that doesnt hide the fact that we are one of the worst teams in transfer window. We have spend more than Arsenal by quite some amount.Compare their strength with ours. Last time we waited and waited to do shrewd deal and finally panic buyed Sakho for 18 million(results are showing he is not good enough),dont forget Aspas and Alberto for 17 million( for squad depth BR said) do they even feaeture from bench? No.
This time we are fighting for title(ucl guaranteed) still we target Lallana(that guy knows nothing apart from decent turns)..Manure are after Reus and Hummels.I am not saying Lallana is bad..but why buy him when u have to develop him again after spending 20 million on him??
At this moment we can target special players who wont come after Suarez leaves and we must sign them..but i know its all a pipe dream

  19. It's a matter of character, not of the club a player is at. Plus there are plenty of players that went down with and stayed at the club to work their socks off. The further we stay away from this mercenary the better

    ReplyDelete
  20. i agree m'vila would be a waste of money, plus 6 midfielders is enough. lallana/coutinho, rakitic/henderson and gerrard/allen. this seems like a good midfield to me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. kovacic yes, m'vila is overated by liverpool fans cos he is sakho's mate lol

  22. They worked so hard, they might not get promoted from the Championship.

  23. erghhh, please rethink your life

  24. Y M'Vila(23) would offer more protection and steel to centre of park than L Leiva(27) and S Gerrard(33).

With a fully fit injury free and motivated Y M'Vila(23) we will not be easily exploited or exposed away from home next season. And i am sure we will concede less goals with a Essien,Makele,Mascherano and Sissoko type DM in side

    ReplyDelete
  25. Apart from S Gerrard(33) passing and his penalties, when we have played teams who close him down and give him no time on ball he has been passenger in games as he no longer has the energy, legs, mobility or pace to do what his head is thinking. M'Vila(23) should be first player we buy in summer

  26. Ah I didn't know winning a league was that simple. So the team that works the hardest gets promoted. You should give Rodgers a ring.
