'It's astonishing' - Angry Ex-Red blasts Andy Carroll 'assault' on Mignolet (Video)

It's all square at half time in today's crunch game with West Ham, and, as suspected, Andy Carroll has come back to haunt the Reds, but not in a way anyone could've expected.

Steven Gerrard opened the scoring from the penalty spot, but the hammers unfairly equalised when Carroll blatantly slapped Mignolet in the face, forcing him to drop the ball, then which led directly to Liverpool's goal.

The linesman flagged for a foul but when the referee then proceeded to allow the goal.

As you can see, it's an absolutely atrocious decision.

Discussing the incident at half-time, Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp raged:

"Not only is it a foul, it's bordering on assault. It's an absolute foul. I don't how the referee could've missed that. It's astonishing".

Criminal decision.

  1. Look at the guilty expression on Carrolls face .....

  2. For me, that's cheating. The only way he could possibly get to the ball is if he actually punched it. Instead he punches the keeper. He has no intention of doing anything legal, it's just Andy Carroll "putting himself about" as if there is some skill involved in throwing a large framed man at the ball. Terrible terrible decision and the refs will be ashamed of themselves every time they see the replay.

  3. I've decisions given for intent to handle the ball and here that's his only intent but he misses and hits the Keeper. Alarming decision. And yesterday Silva was off side for City's second goal from which they retook the lead. The worst season for referees I can remember. So many bad decisions.

  4. Taylor had a f*cking mare.. As opposed to Carroll who continues to develop his reputation as an absolute donkey hahaha.

  5. Now EVERYONE knows why we sold him

  6. If anyone needed further clarification (as if) why it was a good idea to sell this great lump of a forward, hopefully this will put the issue to bed.

  7. To be honest looking at where Migs hands were he was never going to hold on to it challenge or no challenge......sorry!

  8. I don't know mate I don't think you can say that with any kind of certainty at all.

  9. I agree. SM had the ball comfortably with two hands until ACs arm came thru SM's arm. I'm sure that's what the linesman was telling the ref...to no avail.

  10. The match went like I expected. WHU strategy was park the bus and send every ball airborne into the box and hope AC gets lucky. It was always going to be difficult to score on them with 9-10 guys in the box defending...heck even AC was back there a lot of the time. Suarez was close a couple of times, but I don't think he was unlucky...those were lobs form impossible angles. Raheem's shot late was the best of the day. SG MotM for me. OUtstanding defensive work and two cooly taken PKs.

  11. Runs like a giraffe...really...you tube giraffes running and you will agree.

  12. True I can't be sure they just look a bit square on to me then one hand rolls around the ball. I am not sure the challenge, poor though it was and a foul, was reason enough to drop the ball. All about opinions though and had we lost or drawn I would have been calling AC to be banned for violent conduct and the referee to be shot at the very least.

  13. Ha! There's definitely a similarity. But to be fair to those giraffes, they have much quicker feet.

  14. I am a fully trained lip reader and he was actually telling him what he had planned for supper tonight.

  15. Mate he hits him in the face which could be enough to put him off but then his arm dropped in to Mings arm which is what makes him wrap his hand around the ball leading to the drop. I think we will have to agree to disagree but personally I think your bananas.

  16. From the Bewin 3 things summary on ESPNFC.

"The visiting fans were quiet until Gerrard converted the second of two penalties. Nail clippers will not be required among Reds fans until at least the summer."

Nail clippers will not be required...like that.

  17. Thank God we sold the big lumbering jackass. For a club with such a great footballing tradition as ours, it's a bit unedifying to see long balls punted up to a man of whom it must be said that his only recognisable talent is that he has the same physique as Lurch from the Munsters.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is really uncalled for.........even Lurch has feelings you know. .

  22. Jerk-off chicken? Or stuffed turkey maybe.

  23. Pardon the cruel chuckle...but it is official. With 5 matches and 15 remaining points to play for it is now impossible for ManU to finish above this year. Can't remember who has been writing it all season, but you are now officially correct...'we will finish above ManU, by the way.'

  24. He is allardyce reincarnated, a true donkey with one trick in heading the ball. Rogers did us a huge favour selling him and downing who is also awful! Great win today, on track now, I really thought this one along with the palace game. Come on redmen totally believing now..

  25. By the way, where is Orme?

  28. Well spotted, fixed it. You know your goth TV families.

  29. I think Downing was coming good before we let him go and just needs a better striker than Carroll ( no irony intended ) as the donkey can't keep pace and get up quick enough for his crosses

  30. I think your aving a lauff

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree. Bad attempted grab by the keeper. But that doesn't change the fact it was a foul.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Will hate carroll now. No one does that only the guy who hates you to death, dont remember a manc doing it to us, what carroll did today, faceless prck

  33. Sam allardyce wonders why no fans ever want him at their club. His teams are reasonably effective but man are they horrible to watch

    ReplyDelete
  34. That just how he looks

  35. Since we've been on our 9 game winning streak, West Ham have been the team that's restricted us the most, especially in the 2nd half. BR's change of formation was a excellent decision, enabling us to have greater possession with the full-backs pushed up.

  36. Herman Munster was big guy too.

  37. Surprised at people's reaction. A bit hyperbolic. Poor refereeing decision but don't think it makes Carroll into Badman Andy. I suppose it is easier to be phlegmatic in victory than in defeat.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's only cheating if Suarez does it. Just ask Jamie.

  39. Have a look at the replay above. He had the ball in his hands till the BIG GALOOT punched him in the side of the head. Glad he's gone elsewhere. Don't want to watch such a one dimensional footballer with no other talents but heading a ball and foul play. Also the biggest whinger in EPL.

  40. My feeling about this is that from the referee's perspective Skrtel pushed Carroll in the back with his forearm sending him flying into Mignolet. Carroll did foul Mignolet once he got there, but he was fouled into getting there. I think the referee when he consulted with the linesman explained this point to him. If it's not a goal, it's a penalty. Fair decision.

  41. I would like to know what was said between the ref and linesman.
    "I saw a foul."
    "No you didn't."
I don't get how he could over rule it, if he saw the foul?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes it was a foul and yes the goal should not have stood but I tell you, if we had not had the penalties we've had this season we probably would have been 6 points or more worse off :-) Now I'm not saying we shouldn't have got those penalties but it goes to show what a difference it can make for your season. I was anxious about this match to be honest, more so than the next one against Citeh. Yesterday sealed it for me. We WILL be champions this year. Was also delighted to see the toffees beat the gooners by the way. I hope they get fourth. First and foremost because they'll have to beat Citeh to do so but also because they're a decent club with a top class manager and a squad of decent lads. They have the potential to be the greatest club in the city....
    If they moved to Birmingham...

  43. He was inside the 6 yard box. There shouldn't be anyone near enough to touch him and thus he would have comfortably collected the ball.
