Transfer Update: Agent responds to 'rumours' that €19m attacker 'will sign for LFC'

Last year, Hungarian midfielder Balázs Dzsudzsák claimed that Dynamo Moscow blocked a move to Anfield during the January transfer window, which indirectly led to Liverpool signing Philippe Coutinho instead. That deal has worked out superbly for Liverpool, but reports suggest that the Reds will be back in for the exciting wing-star this summer.

According to the Daily Express, Liverpool and Everton are both planning to bid for Dzsudzsák this summer, but LFC are favourites to actually complete the signing.

Liverpool almost signed Dzsudzsák last year, and at the time, his agent, Jozsef Vorosbaranyi, specifically confirmed LFC's interest:

"Numerous clubs have made an approach, including Internazionale and Liverpool. Balazs feels good at the team and has a good partnership with coach Dan Petrescu, but anything can happen".

Soon after, Dzsudzsák revealed that his club wouldn't sanction a move to Anfield. He told Nemzeti Sport:

"Dinamo didn't let me go to Liverpool. I can't say any more because it is not my position to do so, but it seems that some respectable teams still believe in me. What I couldn't do during the winter transfer window can be done in the summer"

Then, in an interview soon afterwards, Dynamo Sporting Director Dmitry Galjamin explained why the Russian club blocked the deal:

"Liverpool put in an offer to take Dzsudzsák on loan, but didn't want to buy. Since a loan deal is not an option for us, we immediately closed negotiations"

Given the fact Dzsudzsák cost €19m only a year prior to LFC's offer - a deal that made Dzsudzsák the most expensive Hungarian footballer in the history of the game - it's hardly surprising that Dynamo told the Reds to stuff it.

When asked about the LFC speculation this week, however, Dzsudzsák's agent appeared to refute the rumours about a move to Liverpool. He told Nemzeti Sport:

"I know that the Ukrainian press is again spreading the rumour that Balázs Dzsudzsák will sign for Liverpool, but there are no new developments regarding Dzsudzsák, and there are no negotiations"

If Dzsudzsák wanted a move last year, I doubt much has changed since then. He continues to endure a torrid time in Russia, and with only 5 goals in 55 games for Dinamo, he's clearly not producing his best form.

On the plus side, after spending three years at PSV Eindhoven, Dzsudzsák has experience of European football, and at the age of 27, his best years should still be ahead.

Better option than Konoplyanka, who the Reds are allegedly set to pursue again this summer?

  2. Not even a better option than Kevin Kilbane

  3. The girls on MOTD raised an interesting point on Sunday though. They suggested Gerrard can play another three, four years in his role as DM which, if the case, would mean we don't necessarily need someone in that position right away. Meaning we could give Rossiter time to develop into that role.

  4. He won't be able to play two games a week at his standard though without getting an injury. We need able cover, Lucas can help but I feel his best form is behind him.

  5. If you look at it, Rodgers does not require a defensive midfielder as such. We are not playing with one at the moment. If we are going to sign another CM then I am not sure it is going to be brick shithouse like Diame or Wanyama.

In the 1-2 midfield, the two are vitally important as they are the ones doing the pressing, tracking back, winning the ball, making the tackles etc. These 2 players need to be mobile and need to be grafters (Hendo, Allen, Coutinho) which allows Stevie the 'controller' all the time and space to dictate the play plus there is no need to run around like a headless chicken which prolongs his career.

how bout drag gerrard to CB in future, sure that not the best option out there but with his ability to cover that place should be no problem

  7. No, not really. True top quality players who have succeeded in The Netherlands don't need time to adjust, they make an impact within 12 months. If he's struggled for a while in Russia I'd suggest that maybe he's just not going to be good enough. I don't think we went for a loan deal because we're cheap, I think we genuinely wanted a short term option and were not convinced of his long term quality. If we like a player and we're convinced he's good enough then we spend the money. I'd guess he was considered as someone to bolster the squad but not a genuine long term solution to what we are looking for. We haven't been back for him since so I'd guess he's not on our radar any more. We're looking for a different class of player now.

  8. This is totally irrelevant to the topic but can any team in the PL boast of 6-7 homegrown players in the first 11,when i think of it its amazing to see what BR has done with this team .

  9. What happened to Wanyama anyway? I had a fit when I saw he signed for Southampton and we missed out but did we really miss out?

  10. I believe he changed his name via deed-poll to Zinadene Kilbane..

  11. He's been injured for months, only came back recently, but they have been flying without him so i guess a reluctance to change a winning team is keeping him out.

  12. Journalists have one bag with all the players names in it and another with all the clubs' names in it. Each day they pick out a club from one bag and a player from the other and that becomes their rumour for the day.

They have done this so often now that the rumours are being repeated with the same player once again linked with the same club. This is a good thing though because it means they can say the club was previously linked with the player which merely adds further credence to the rumour this time round. They then add a nickname like "el sluggo" and it's job done!

  13. I see AC is still AC...gets one from his noggin against Sunderland, but other than that is basically fullfiing his fencepost role up front.

  14. I say we end all our transfer business in one day by offering So'ton 50 million for Shaw, Lallana and Lambert and get on with it.

  15. Would rather have Rodriguez than lambert but get where you're coming from

  16. I don't think we've ever been interested in this guy, I just think he is a player with one of those over-active agents who are leaking stories left and right. About 40th time we've been linked with him.

  17. Thing with Rodriguez is, he's a poort man's Sturridge. Completely one dimensional but without the lethal finishing ability. Ricky L can plan finisher and provider and can make an impact off the bench. He's a cool head on his shoulders.
