'The Prophet' to LFC? - Boss tells Reds to pay £15m+ for 'incredible' Brazil star.

In April 2012, Liverpool reportedly scouted Lazio attacker Anderson Hernanes de Carvalho Andrade Lima, aka Hernanes, but Kenny Dalglish's departure from Anfield seemingly put the stoppers on any potential deal. Well, it appears that the Reds are still interested in the Brazilian, though just like two years ago, Lazio are in no apparent hurry to sell.

According to reports this week:

* Liverpool have been 'told' that a big money offer is required to tempt the Serie A club to sell.

* 28-year old Hernanes is in big demand, and is attracting attention from 'clubs across Europe'.

Back in 2012, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito emphatically ruled out selling Hernanes to Liverpool. He told TMW:

“We are ignoring offers from other teams, because we do not need to sell him. He has big transfer value, but we are ignoring that because he is not on the market".

When asked this week about Liverpool's interest, Lotito once again claimed that Hernanes is not for sale:

"I do not want to sell him, we will have to receive an indecent offer - £15m will not be enough."

Hernanes - nicknamed 'Il Profeta' (The Prophet) by Lazio's fans - appears to be settled at Lazio, and is is clearly not interested in moving:

"I do not want to hear these [transfer] stories, I want to focus on my work and help the team"

On Sunday, the Brazilian came off he bench to score a match-winning goal against Udinese, and after the game, his coach, Edy Reja, gushed:

"Hernanes came out with an incredible goal, this is the Prophet I know. He had the right attitude today and was firing up the lads in the locker room. He cares about the club and wants to be important for this team"

Hernanes' stats for the last three years:

* 2010-11: 12 goals/5 assist in 37 apps.
* 2011-12: 10 goals/4 assist in 41 apps.
* 2012-13: 14 goals/7 assist in 52 apps.
* 2013-14: 4 goals/1 assist in 23 apps.

* TOTALS: 40 goals/17 assists in 153 apps.
* Goal every 3.8 apps | Assist every 9 apps
* Goal/Assist every 2.6 games.

For a central midfielder, Hernanes' record is excellent, but is he worth more than £15m, and would LFC be willing to pay that for a a player who will be 29 this year?

  1. Fake, 28 years. Never happen.

  2. I think 18-20m should get him as he is 28. He is a good player though but surely him and Candreva can't be coming . If any !

  3. I assume that all these new transfer 'links' mean we either can't afford the 'links' we WANT or that the 'links' don't want to switch to a team that isn't playing CL football. Is that about right? Or a third possibility is that we just throw the names out there to put other teams off the scent, make them bid for players they think that we think are good and then make the concrete backroom deal for the players we really want. Any other explanations I'm missing?

  4. Good player. Too old. Wont happen.

  5. Friday week, 31st, day off work, kids packed off to granny, beer and popcorn - Transfer Deadline Day

Sky must have a deal done with clubs to hold back on deals to boost ratings :)

Hernanes is great in FIFA, but I haven't heard any rumours in real life

We need a DM above all, someone who can TALK his teammates through the game

And a TALKING centre half would be good. Diego Godin if he has any English or Lugano for 6 months

  6. come on lets just get mata. we need a attacking midfielder, chelsea want £35M. Sky Sources have said it. after that we will be able to attract big players to the club. Marcos Reus would be the next in Summer.

    My dream LFC team

    --------------------------Reina/Mingolet
    ---Sterling---------Skrtel-----------Sakho-----Enrique/Flanagan
    ----------------Fernando----------Gerrard/Hendo
    ------------------------------Mata
    -------Sturridge-----------Suarez------------Reus

maybe sterling at RB could be pushing it but he could make an impact.
Reus release clause is £30M in the summer. proven world class player scored 24 goals/20 assists in 57 games. this season hes got 12 goals and 10 assists in 29 games. Roberto Firminio from Hoffenheim is only 22 and is perfoming on a similar level and is also an option. hes got 12 goals/10 assists from 19 games from CM. hes also got a very high work rate and can score, defend well and assist.
Juan Mata is a proven world class player with magic at his boots. his debut season got 12 goals/20 assists in 54 games. second season 20 goals/35 assists in 64 games. outstanding. Chelsea are prepared to sell to Man Utd so why not LFC? we need to cough up the cash and make a bold statement.

Mata now. £35M. Reus Summer £30M.

this will be a very deadly team set-up to support the deadliest football in the world Luis Suarez. when he signed the contract we said we would build a world class team around him. Mata with all the assists he gets will give Suarez at least 20 goals. Sturridge has already formed a great partnership with Suarez and Suarez will get plenty assists of Sturridge and Sturridge will return the favour as usual. often Coutinho should finish off alot of chances but fails to do so. Reus will be the world class LW to finish off those chances. he will feed Suarez at least 10 goals and grab at least 10 himself. like at Barcelona how the team is set up for Messi, lets make this team set-up for Suarez. he will not fail. with this set-up Suarez can score up to 60 goals. Fernando can be purchased for as little as £5-7M. he can be our big DM win back possesion and start our counter attacks. gerrard will use his vision to pick passes to Mata, Sturridge, Reus and Suarez whilst using his experience and leadership to keep things intact. Mata is the finished article and BR tika-taka style will be complete after this. hes the perfect number 10. with Suarez the perfect Striker and Sturridge and Reus perfect Support, this will be the most deadly starting 11 for years to come. Sterling could grow into the role and become a genuine world class right back in the form of Dani Alves.

    LFC must dream big.

    Fernando Reges - £5-7M
    Juan Mata - £35-40M
    Marcos Reus - £30M

  7. No...i mean its a great line up (except sterling...not sure if thats the best move), but mata and reus will never come to liverpool. The quality of other parties involved with inflate the price considerably to a point where its not even worth it, and they will most likely choose someone else anyway. Instead of Mata, I'm not sure who to go for, but we have coutinho coming in, as well as suso, so we should be good. Instead of Reus we can get Salah, Yarmolenko, Konoplyanka, possibly tello, griezman, etc. Wingers aren't of a shortage at the moment, so it should be easy to find a good match.
As for Reges, I'm totally for him. He's perfect for Liverpool, and at a great price. An alternate would be M'vila, even Matuidi (though his price may inflate as well). There's also De Jong, though im not a fan of him.

  8. Also, we need a FB. Montoya would be great, but it doesnt seem to be happening. Ideal Jan. for me:
    Reges- 8-10M
    Salah- 10-15M
    Montoya- 5-10M
    Max total- 35M

  9. All these links are either the "real plans" of BR or a bunch of rubbish speculation because Henry had a talk with BR about the real "real plans." Either real leaks have gotten out and the other stuff are made up, or this is the media's reaction to BR basically saying he has enough funds now.

Hopefully he won't turn out to be another false prophet.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No thanks. Rather get a defensive midfielder, IF a decent one is available. Even if only on loan. Same goes for a Left Back. Hopefully we get Salah though. Have you seen his ratings on Goal.com? Better than Rakitics!

    ReplyDelete
  12. No chance of getting Mata. Liverpool still have to play Chelsea again...and Mourinho could possibly still see Liverpool as a threat even though we probably aren't at this stage. So he won't want to give us his second best player (after Hazard) IMO. But if we beat the teams above us at Anfield. Then who knows we could still win the league. I think if Mata goes to Man United.. it's purely Mourinho trying to make them stronger so they could take points off other teams at the top.. and Chesea have already played Man United so Mata won't play against them. Plus Man United are too far behind to win the title. If Mata does go to Man United..Mourinho is doing himself and Chelsea a massive favor. Damn his cleverness.

  13. Sign mata for Gods sake!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Totally agree re: Mata. Don't know Reus or Firminio.......

    ReplyDelete
  15. Do you honestly think Mourinho is going to sell us Mata? They are 3rd and we are in 4th 6 points behind him.

I mean seriously, wake up! This is not fantasy football.

    ReplyDelete
  16. God knows why people want Mata?, he is not what we need at all, we create plenty as it is, we need a DM and LB before anything else. Do we need Salah right now?, I don't think we do.................................Mata is not what we need!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I totally agree, we do not need Mata. We are not struggling in the goals department.

The need for a player to sit in front of our defence is a big must but we need a player who can cope physically. Someone with pace is vital too i.e a player which is better than Lucas. It all depends on who is available so we will just have to wait and see what happens before the window shuts. No panic buys though please so reckon the club will be looking at a temporary loan deal.

Rumour has it that both LFC and Napoli were keen on striking a loan deal for M'Villa so we will just have to sit back and enjoy the ride...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I see Diame was taken off on a stretcher lastnight so he is out, De Jong or M'Vila most likely now???

    ReplyDelete
  19. I doubt LFC are interested in Diame right now and not sure any other club is either, otherwise he would have moved already.

we loaned out ilori and coates and agger injured, we might need strong defensive minded ppl coming in

  21. Mr. Point Of View7:38 am, January 22, 2014

if MU goes 37m for mata, i will bid kagawa in bargain

    ReplyDelete
  22. At CB we still have Sakho, Skertl, Toure and Kelly so we have enough there even with injuries, DM is 100% a problem as we have nobody to play that role unless we buy.......................surely BR and FSG can see that???.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anyone think Mourinho would sell Mata to United because he believes they are no longer a threat?

    ReplyDelete
  24. From being champions last season to dropping 7th this season and only 1.68 points per game.

That should give you the answer...

  25. Mr. Point Of View8:47 am, January 22, 2014

move Cissohko to DM how that sound? He had the body strength and def minded, since JE is coming back soon..
of coz a buy will be permanent fix

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm gonna get nervous if they sign Mata. And my God do we need to sign some players quick smart

    ReplyDelete
  27. i hope we dont get him .. not because he isnt good player he is good
but why we would sign attacking mid when we have gerrard , henderson and coutinho and for DM we got only lucas .. pay that 15 mil for DM or full back .. we are scoring goals thats not our problem .. we are bad at defending i dont know why they ignore that ...

    ReplyDelete
  28. guys wheres the ambition? at least if we cant get mata. lets try get Kagawa for £20M. hes far better than coutinho, and they can compete for a place anyway. it makes things healthy. but IMO making Man United stronger with Mata gives them the oppurtunity to lose the league next year. Mata, Rooney and Van Persie is scary. and what do people think about a £40-50M bid for Nani, Kagawa and Rafael? Rafael is leaving in the summer, likeso Nani and Kagawa will not get game time if Mata Joins. it would improve our current team massively and im sure it would also give everyone a big boost

    ReplyDelete
  29. Cabaye is a box to box midfielder. We need a defensive midfielder...

    ReplyDelete
  30. We don't sign players from them, they don't sign players from us. That's all.

    ReplyDelete
  31. For Gods sake, we already have Moses, and Jesus (Suso).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dont remember where, but I think I read it in the Echo, that it is Lucas other knee, he is turning into another Aurelio.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I see him signing in the next couple of days. There's no way Utd will even threaten to challenge for the title, but what they can do if strengthened, is take points off Man City/Arsenal. Chelsea have already played and beaten them, classic Mourhino tactics.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Rumour is it will happen, but I cant see Mourinho helping to rebuild Man U.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If we do not sign a DM before the Everton game we will lose that match and a top four finish will be seriously under threat. Not just because of that game but also because we will go the rest of the season without any midfielder capable of breaking down attacks through our middle and Stevie and Allen, not the fastest on the planet, will be completely overrun. So great to be linked to attacking midfielders but I would feel a lot more at ease if we were no longer exposed so much through the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Go read an excellent article in thisisanfield, titled "the impact of other transfers",, really good article.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Allen will play DM for derby.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So what you're saying is, these stories are either true, or not true?
    Your insight astounds me! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Apparently we are looking at Fernando Reges. He is out of contract in the summer and I hope we are not trying to sign a pre contract but just do the business now. It's just what I have read hope it is true.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It isn't just his goals against Chelsea that have made people sit up and take notice. I assume you saw his performances in the Europa League last year when he was brilliant against Tottenham and Man City so he has put in brilliant performances against 3 of the bigger teams in England over the past 2 years. Snap him up asap. When BR made the comment about the fans being excited by the new player arriving (Borini) he should have saved that comment for Salah because he will gets bums off seats.

    ReplyDelete
  41. In a cynical way it makes sens for this season. United strengthen and take points off rivals whilst Chelsea have already played them twice. It could also set them up for a move for Rooney in the summer when his contract is running out. They get Rooney relatively cheap, they sell Mata for near double what they payed, United potentially take points of league title rivals but don't actually threaten Chelsea at all. So you would see why they would.

Why it doesn't make sense is that next season if United strengthen further building a team around Mata

    ReplyDelete
  42. Or it will be Gerrard DM with Henderson and Allen pressing.

As long as Stevie has two mobile midfielders who are hungry for the ball ahead of him then he should be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know mate. I have gradually become very frustrated about this Salah thing. If we want him but don't think he is worth £12m why do we want him? If we do think he is worth that much then get him. We need to strengthen other ares too. We shouldn't be pissing about.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 3 midfield? Who plays out wide of Suarez and Sturridge?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Before I thought you Jamie are not much involved in rumours and speculating but this t.w I noticed your probably the worst. I mean if you check you news out it should be like 40 players you wrote about they coming to lfc and the tw is not closed yet! Why you even do this? Just to get more clicks on your page? Seriously you need to stop lying the fans, its not honest at all, not even mancs chelsea or arsenal do this, just try to be honest and loyal with the fans, dont give them fake hopes, we know we wont sign 40 players in a tw, its hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Will be a front three of Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge with Suarez dropping deep, Sterling causing trouble on the right, Sturridge chasing the ball and Cissokho making attacking runs down the left.

or Rodgers might revert to 3-5-2 again.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If we bought Nani, Kagawa and Rafael i would eat my hat...spew it up..and eat it again. That's the worst idea i've ever heard lol. Also, the reason we don't buy £20M players is cause the budget is probably 25 million total for January. We have many issues in various positions. Spending all of it on one player is ridiculous. We have the second most goals in the league. Scoring isn't our problem. If someone said you can have Yaya Toure for £25 million, only THEN should they spend it all on one player. YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  48. If it suits him somewhat he will. But at the moment, if Mata had to choose between us and Utd, he'd probably choose us. Shame that our good league position still has disadvantages.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sort of lopsided 433 like he has done before?
