Transfer Update: LFC scouts watch exciting striker who hit 47 goals in ONE season.

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Lazio starlet Keita Balde Diao, a former youth player with Barcelona.

According to multiple sources today, the Reds are interested in a potential deal for Balde. The Daily Mail reports:

"Keita Balde Diao is under the watchful eye of Liverpool’s talent spotters.

"Brendan Rodgers’ scouts were looking at the 18-year-old when he made his full debut in Lazio's 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the Europa League".

Some facts about Keita:

* Kicked out of Barca at 15 for playing a prank during a tour of Qatar.
* 2010-11: Scored 47 goals in one season for UE Cornellà's youth team.
* Rejected the chance to return to Barcelona.
* Currently contracted to Lazio until June 2017.
* Only two senior appearances for Lazio so far.
* Cost Lazio £250k

Forgive me if I find it hard to get excited about yet another teenage prospect. The Academy is bursting at the seams with promising talent at the moment, and the Reds need players for *now*, who can come in and make an immediate impact. In any event, with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in the team, it's practically impossible for a teenage striker to get any game time.

As a comparison, consider Samed Yesil - after a couple of appearances last season, he's now seemingly disappeared into obscurity, and like dozens of other promising young players over the years, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the scrapheap sooner rather than later.

There's also Kristian Adorjan, another very promising young striker, but he hasn't had a sniff at the first team, and is currently farmed out on loan. And let's not forget Adam Morgan, and even Fabio Borini, who couldn't get a game in the central striker's role despite his £11m price-tag.

If these guys can't make the breakthrough, why would Balde - an 18-year old unknown with zero experience - be any different?

  1. Dont think this guy would add anything to the squad we have now as we already have sterling and he does not any better than him so why bring in another player we would just loan out and then sell.

  2. I look at prospects as like entering a chance to win a contest.

The more chances you have, the more likely you win the contest. But for that one chance you win, there are a lot of chances you lose.

Nothing wrong with bringing in more prospects.

But we need to have more players brought in for the here and now to establish the culture so that when the prospects are brought up, they are adapting to the existing culture as opposed to creative that culture themselves.

  3. Simply waste of resources if we keep on signing players with potential rather players with experience and ability,

  4. the only kid i wanna see coday or rossitier ..... with stevies legs fast giving away we need these 2 lads to come in sooner rather than later

  5. our priority should be midfielder s and midfielder s only and first team ones at that...lucas is way out of sorts and gerrad wasn't deemed fit to play the holding role by raffa when he was in his pomp so why would he be able to do it now at 33...our midfield is weak as water on all fronts...but the joke is there are no other options for sunderland so it will be the same old same old...lucas giving a way free kicks and hollywood balls into thin air by gerrard ...at this stage i havnt a clue who will be the 3rd midfielder.... get a set of snooker balls number them to 20 and put them in a bin bag close your eyes and pick you wont be far out

  6. id settle for leonard rossiter in our current midfield

  7. Ibe looks better than him to me
