After creating only one clearcut chance against Aston Villa earlier today, it's clear that Liverpool need more attacking options up front, and with Serbian attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic seemingly on the way out of Fiorentina, could he be a viable option?
Speaking to reporters yesterday, Viola co-owner Andrea Della Valle confirmed the 21-year old could leave the club before the transfer window closes. He said:
"Ljajic? I cannot give any answers right now, but there are several different options available.
"He could still stay at Fiorentina, but there's not much chance of that happening. Next week we will make a decision, so give us a few more days."
Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci also suggested that Ljajic could be sold soon:
“Everything is still possible and it’s only normal that Ljajic has a lot on his mind. I’m optimistic, always, and I’d like to see these negotiations come to the best possible conclusion.”
€10m-rated Ljajic is currently at loggerheads with Fiorentina, and refuses to sign a new contract. His current deal expires next summer, and if the Serie A club don't sell him in the next nine days, he could end up leaving for free.
Dubious, opportunist reports claim that Liverpool are interested in signing Ljajic, but based on the current sources reporting the story, I don't believe there's any credibility to the rumours. That said, given the fact Ljacic is definitely available, should the Reds consider signing him? His stats are certainly impressive:
* Last season: 12 goals/8 assists in 31 apps (24 starts)
Not bad for a 21-year old plying his trade in a traditionally defensive-minded league. Worth a bid, or should Rodgers focus on older, more experienced players for the rest of the transfer window?

This guy is going to be one heck of a player. Sign him bitte.
ReplyDeleteHe's good and for 10m he might prove to be a bargain, if we can land him of course. The one 20year old we got from Serie A is doing just good, hopefully he can make a same impact as him. But, I sincerely doubt we'd get him when Spurs are in for him, not being negative but tired of being positive.
ReplyDeleteI would Luke BR to bring an experienced proven player to LFC. We have enough youngsters in out squad. We need proven quality. I really hoped we can net Willian but if it's not a case any more we should try and go for Arda Turan. He is a Liverpool fan, so it is a chance he will want to come.
ReplyDeleteI didnt think we were to bad yesterday. Coutinho had a relatively quite game but we still did what was needed. To be fair Villa is a team who have done well so far this season and will be solid this season. Best thing was again Toure who had another good game. Do we need more creativity well yes but mostly as cover if this lad is available then get him in and lets keep building for the future.
ReplyDeleteNext Sunday will be the tester but we go into it with as much confidence as we could possibly have got. Played 2 won 2
This guy looks the part. Skill, speed and can finish. Wether we go for him remains to be seen.
ReplyDeleteWhoever is the cheapest and who no one else wants to sign, that's who we'll sign. If anyone.
ReplyDeleteAdem Ljajic would be an excellent signing! Although he's 21, he is very experienced and knows where the goal is! I say sign him and Sakho this week!
ReplyDeleteHonesly we need a winger with pace and skill to replace Downing but also it means Coutinho can drop back into the middle, as we say Y-day its hard for Coutinho to have an effect on the game when hes being closed down all the time as hes coming inside
ReplyDeleteAlso does anyone else think Mignolet looks like a lot like carl from Underbelly. Thats one for the Aussie fans !
ReplyDeleteIf Chelsea get Willian they would like to sell Mata. BR should keep an eye on Juan Mata. Chelsea bought him for 23M pounds might sell him for lesser to lessen the wage bill. LFC can get Mata it'll be a cracker of a deal. Mata can play midfield & as a winger.
ReplyDeleteHaha nah not really
ReplyDelete21 and already at loggerheads with his club...does anyone know why.....as for mata its a mata of fact hes a great players but it doesnt mata as we wont sign him
ReplyDeleteHe is already at Chelsea
ReplyDeleteSInce when do brits watch underbelly? There hasn't been a decent season ever since the first one (apart from the one last year about those 2 brothers). He also doesn't look like gyton grantley!
ReplyDeleteturan isn´t really fast - and i think we need a pacy winger..
ReplyDeleteAnd that rubbish is one of our better shows ATM.
ReplyDeleteChelsea paid 16 million for Mata. I don't think they're buying Willian to replace anyone. More so to add to their squad. if he can manage to get a starting position, then they may consider letting someone go.
ReplyDeleteForget Ljacic and go for Mata, two reasons it would give us the quality signing that Rodgers has been advocating all off-season and secondly it would get up the nose of Arsenal who have been trying to turn the head of our most valuable player, finally if it came off it could only increase the prestige of those critics who support the move and have spent the last months doing their utmost to undermine the playing squad when suggesting we sell while no serious replacement.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right, and the underbellys set in the early 20th century are bloody sh**. They just over- do it. Maybe they should stick to more contemporary material.
ReplyDeleteill be amazed if we got mata...big fee + big wages + is he even for sale = no deal
ReplyDeleteIf we continue to do well without Suarez I would offer a straight swap, Mata for Suarez. Mata has immense quality and as much as I support Henderson he would be a clear upgrade out on the right. It may seem a bit too ambitious but we could get rid of a trouble making player who has contributed nothing so far this season and we can bring in someone with real class.
ReplyDeleteNo one may agree with me here but I reckon we should make a small offer for Gareth Barry. He's on the out and linked to Everton, we could snap him up as an experienced back up for Lucas. Even better, go for Milner. If Either Hendo/Allen start that leaves only 1 centre mid in the entire squad not on the pitch. If we get an injury to any centre mid we may be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteCHELSEA do not meet the FAIR PLAY RULES and should receive a warning by FIFA TODAY - TOTAL JOKE CLUB
ReplyDeleteNo. He is not.
ReplyDeletebarry can play cb to so thats not a bad idea...id also offer suarez for mata...i like mata he can play in the front or middle 3 which is ideal for rogers system...
ReplyDeleteill be honest in not a fan of the fair play rules....it deprives the sport of money which filters all the way down.iF sone idiot wants to splash out 100m on a player let them ....small clubs can keep in buisness by some owners paying over the odds
ReplyDeleteGreat thought if you had the time to invest in deciding ... if we continue to do well without Suarez but in reality LFC have lost out while biding their time, now is the time for action, unless you suggest waiting until the next transfer date.
ReplyDeletethe guy at the top looks like Bryan McFadden
ReplyDeleteBetter than Jovetic last season, in terms of form. Coming along well, since that bench incident, which maybe could be the making of him. Definitely worth it at the price but I think Milan will get him.
ReplyDeleteDo not take my word for it but I understand contract wise he thinks he is under-valued. However, regardless the reason a good man-manager should be able to ensure a player does not become at loggerheads with the club, even at thump in the head may help.
ReplyDeleteI would go higher for this player than for Willian. Not only is his potential huge, he would immediately improve us. I think he'd be on the same wavelength as Sturridge and Coutinho; works unbelievably hard; and has that winning look, serious and focused. If there's any chance at all -- though like everyone else I think Milan will have him -- I'd love the club to go in hard on this transfer.
ReplyDeleteIt does not hurt to be the first cab off the rank, making an offer or inquiry does not commit one to purchase.
ReplyDeleteGoo call.
ReplyDeleteI dont know too much about this kid, looks like the ball sticks to his feet alright, and there's definately talent there, but i couldnt form an opinion on a highlights reel.
ReplyDeleteFor me we need an attacking player we know can do the.job straight away, not a player who may or may not need time.
It was very interesting to hear Mourihno say he does not want to sell, but is looking to loan. I wonder if Lukaku is available again, I would take him in a heartbeat, though they will probably want him going to a club where he would be first or second choice striker.
The thoughts of Mata being available is very exciting, but if he is going to be sold or loaned out I'm sure it will be to a CL team, though Chelsea will not want to sell to a direct rival, so it will be interesting to see how that one pans out.
We definately need a quality attacking option, im sure we'll see some movement before the window closes.
I thought it was great ! Well the first one with Neville Bartos being frightening and the one with the young lad running the clubs ( Forget which season that was ) The 1920's one did over do it a bit but the only really bad one was the NZ version but as (mostly) true stories they were pretty amazing especially as i didnt know anything about them. Also I think Nick was off to the match in Aus. That must have been amazing the YouTube of the singing got me a bit emotional !!
ReplyDeleteyeah..quite impressive..at that price, he's worth the money..
ReplyDeleteThis boy looks good 10 mill euro it's not a bad price, i think we had a good first 35min against AV but we died off , we played some really impressive football but we can't sustain it for a full game i know it's hard but at some point after defending for a while at 1-0 we start to panic a bit, lucky at the moment Mig is in great form.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely need a couple more players i can't see the Mata idea happening but would love it if we could get him (fantastic footballer) but not for Suarez, it would be shit if the owners didn't allow BR to bring in a couple more players,
I am trying to be optimistic but it is hard, the first game it was a penalty, the second it was a volley, Mig has saved us twice from dropping 4 points, we need to start making it difficult for teams to come back, by creating more opportunities and finishing them off early especially if we are going take the foot off the pedal in the second half cause other big clubs will punish us for that.
I believe if we just concentrate on chasing the title we will do great stop eyeing off a top four, plan for the tittle week by week get 2 more players in before the window closes, cause BR your on the right track great job.
4eva LFC, LFC 4eva.
Just read somewhere Chelsea had agreed terms with Willian (don't know how true, but maybe a deal for Mata might not be so crazy 25 mill he'd be definitely worth it.
ReplyDeleteHey JK have you seen much of this 23 year old Brazilian Roberto Firmino who plays for Hoffenheim? i have seen a few of his clips early ones where he looks very good and i watched him in the game against Hamburg and he looks great, very strong good movement off the ball, he looks quick and has a great shot on him, he scored twice in that game 1 with his head and the other with a shot, probably wouldn't cost too much either.
ReplyDeleteThink he could be a good player for us but he is normally used as an attacking midfielder/second striker, and Rodgers has made it clear on a couple of occasions that the attacking player he ideally wants is a left winger so Coutinho can move into the number 10 role.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u.it was evident enough against villa.we need a top winger b4 sunday.if they close coutinho n sturridge down then we have a serious problem
ReplyDeleteTrue. I just don't think they'll be willing to sell.
ReplyDeleteI'm always weary of signing players from Italy.
ReplyDeleteMost players who have come from Italy to England, especially Italian players, tend not to do well.
Those who do well tend to be the exception.
I agree...we would have a much easier and more successful time chasing Moses and Marko Marin (what happened to him?) Both would be incredible, and could slide right into our team. Mata is a bit farfetched since he is a starter anyway...I see Willian replacing Oscar in the XI.
