Transfer Chance: 'Angry' £10m LFC target admits he wants 'big club' move. Bid...?

Earlier this year, the agent of Lyon star Dejan Lovren confirmed that the defender would consider leaving the club if he received a 'good offer'. Liverpool have been linked with the Croatian star several times over the last year, and when asked about the Reds' interest today, Lovren again hinted that a move might be on the cards.

Liverpool reportedly made a €16m bid for the defender in May 2012, and speaking to tportal.hr, £10m-rated Lovren said:

"Every player wants to join a big club. I am under contract until 2016, but anything can happen"

Lovren's comments are a marked contrast to his scathing attack on Lyon in April, when he laid bare his frustration over a variety of issues, including his 'anger' over the way the club handled his recent injury. He told Sportske Novosti:

"I'm very unhappy, and everything has gone downhill. I was angry at the club because they made me train with the [tendon] rupture. I'd be lying if I said I feel comfortable at Lyon.

"I've lost my passion and joy for training, and I never expected to experience that. Lyon to do appreciate me, and I want to go"

Lyon boss Remi Garde dropped Lovren from the squad for his outburst, and made clear his unhappiness with the Croatian's public criticism. He told ESPN:

"Dejan is a young player and he was tricked a little bit. Having said that, you can't go against the club and the institution. I've spoken to him about it, and I cannot sanction what he did."

In May, Lovren's Agent Nikki Vuksan told Calciomercato:

"What I can confirm is that many clubs in Europe want him, and if someone wants to make an offer, we will talk to them. With the right offer, he will leave"

It certainly seems like Lovren is on the outs at Lyon, which provides Liverpool with a perfect opportunity to capitalise this summer. If the proposed deals for Ilori and Papadopolous fall through, should the club go in for him...?

  1. YES! Sign him! We need a lot of upgrades on defense, and he's got the height (192 cm, or 6'2'') to take over for Skertl, and is less prone to OG's.

  2. Sounds like another trouble maker. Liverpool need that like a hole in the head.

  4. Would be a good signing imo, i must say though that i am a little concerned about our link with Kone and even more concerned about the apparent price why on earth would we even be contemplating such a player when we are trying to build a team to challenge the top 4? and i also hope we dont bother re-signing Ince as every time i see him he is nothing more then average and in interviews seems to have his old mans ego.

  5. How though? If he was forced to train on a serious injury I understand him being pissed off.
